There's really no reason to get an elite anymore. You can get the basic version for $199 and it has an HDMI out on it now. Then just buy a 250gb HD for the xbox off of ebay for like $60 and you're good to go. Twice the capacity of the elite, for about $40-50 cheaper.

do what I do. install the game your playing 2 your harddrive. then the xbox doesn't have 2 run worth 2 shits when you play. doesn't get hot or anything.

a while ago they changed to a new chipset, the jasper chipset i believe it was called. ran much cooler and didn't fuck up like this. oxm or gameinformer had an article about how to know if yours had jasper or not.
