New Computer ! :D

The biggest problem i see now is memory and hard drive have jumped way up in price in the last year.

Well memory is at a cross road right now, ddr2 is getting phased out so its getting more expensive, ddr3 is getting cheaper but not as cheep as ddr2 once was.

I hadnt noticed Hard drives getting more expensive though.

I remember when ram was $500+ to get the best and that was 512MB so stop crying. Yes price is up but back in the day it was one of the most expensive parts of the computer and now it is a much smaller part of the budget. While prices are up it is due to actual economic reasons unlike the 100% increase in SDD pricing that is only due to increased licensing fees. This increase occurred in September if I recall however regular HDDs did not really increase in cost. I just got a 2TB 7800rpm for $135 and I can assure you it was more expensive 6 months ago and much much more 12 months ago. Also I remember when it cost me $300+ for 75GB when it was the largest.

Also is she really set on some no name company!? I think the real issue is she is just set on him not making it himself, in which case he should be able to buy from anywhere that builds computers. Once again assuming he really does not have a budget the best options are to look at alienware or falcon NW.

It's really close to where I live and that's pretty much why she wants to buy from there. I don't even care anymore I just want something that will run CSS and Metro 2033

Well it sounds like we should turn this into a PC Talk thread.

Anyways Im looking to build my dad a new pc around 500 dollars. ill probably use his 200gb sata HDD and the DvD RW drive out of it. Hes not a huge pc gamer but he does play the Virtual World game "SecondLife" (yeah I know) and CnC games. Anyways if anyone knows some good deals or like to share some ideas for a build. Im seeing what i can build on newegg currently and show you what i come up with later
