Sad...
I was looking for more competition, so Intel can push out another toy. This is BS!
Make all your last demands for I will forsake you and I'll meet your eyes for the very first time, for the very last.
maynard <ibis>: they are awkward and last 2 damn long. I prefer thinner smaller ones
yeah bulldozer is fail. i read a few article with it being stacked against Intel's gen2 chips and there was a 2.2mHz difference between the chips. I mean if you're gonna make an 8 core processor at the very least have it breach 4gHz and not just 3.6 or 3.8 which is what my i5 is pulling.
Thats not the problem with it. Also the higher the core count the harder it is to get higher frequancy.
Lets say there is a 25% chance a core can hit 5ghz, multiply that by 4 and that how it likely it will be for a 4 core chip to get 5ghz stable
Its why the freq record they broke only had 1 modual (2 cores) active, and how the previus record was held by a celeron chip.
Also speed is a moot point. a P4 can hit 5 ghz but its IPC is so damn low, it did not matter. And thats the problem with bulldozer, its IPC is less then a deneb.
yeah that sucks. just wait for whatever Intel comes out with, they got some new chip structures that they're messing around with that increase speed a shitload. but all that is still in the experimental phase.
So i just recently installed a new 750w PSU, a 990xa-UD3 AM3+ MoBo, and a 6850 Raedon GPU. When ever i play heavy 3D games like skyrim, i get horizontal lines that move up and down my screen periodically and then after about 5 min my screen turns either gray with horizontal lines going threw it, black with what looks like a 1900x100 resolution horizontal line at the top of my screen, and lastly and most oddly, a bunch of horizantal lines that distort visibility while at the same time the left half of my screen inverts with the right half of the screen....
what could the possible problems be and here is what iv tried. I re-installed all my video drivers, im about to go into bios and tweak with my ram settings, i reseated all my ram, and i tried setting my settings down to low in skyrim.
this problem does not occur in counterstrike at all unless i have pandora running in the steam window and when it happens after then.. its just a comp freeze resulting in a restart.

Any time a game is not working graphically like that, or it is running really slowly even on lowest gfx settings, it can usually be fixed by simply lowering your resolution. Also make sure the resolution matches your monitor, like don't use a widescreen setting for the game on a normal monitor. Make sure your windows resolution is set to the optimal setting for your monitor, then make sure your game matches it or set it lower.
There isnt a bios update, the bios for my MoBo is beta 990xa-UD3 Rev 1.1. I did just go into my bios though and found that my ram was auto over clocked to 2.2k ..my ram is old and cant handle more then 1.8 so i changed that and my MoBo also auto clocked it to a 11 11 11 28 time scheme. So i fixed that. I didnt crash the rest of this morning but i still got this screen that i can Alt-F4 out of to fix, which i guess is better then a black screen that involves restarts.
when i get home from work im going to try re fitting the GPU, its pretty heavy it may be lose. Then ill re install windows (somthing i havnt done in the last 8 months.)
