I have a late 2010 i5 with 4gb and a 4890. The only game I play is CSS and soon CS:GO. should I upgrade the memory and gpu? I think I'm ok with the i5 for at least another year.

If you keep running out of ram, yes, if not... Well you can since ram is so dirt cheap now.
GPU, honestly that is one of the most powerful dx10 gpus out, if you want dx11, you can upgrade, if not I would wait for the rest of the line up of kepler and southern islands to come out and then ask again.
But if all you play is css, that game should not stress any of it and it only runs in dx9c

Thanks. For CSS I'm maxed out and usually at about 300fps. Some maps it dips to 150 at times with a lot of action, but I'm not complaining. More concerned with getting graphics maxed out for GO when it comes out. Sounds like I can just wait for GO and react accordingly.

  4. Default Help

So I need some help. While I was at drill this weekend I guess mypay PC just quit. Mypay wife said them fan made a wierd noise and just quit. When I attempt to power it on, it just cycles on then off. When it comes on the second time it just powers on and the fans stay on. I get no visual signal, nor does my mouse get power.

My pc is a Dell optiplex 755.I am running XP with more than max RAM. I have a GE Force 8600 GTS vid card but other thanks that it is stock. I was going to start by replacing the power supply, but if anyone has a clue what happened it would be great.

Tried to attach pics from my phone. Do not know if it worked. Also if you notice the cooling fins are chopped off to make room for the vid card. I forgot about doing that. It's been running that way for a couple of years.

some cases its a just a power supply gave out with lack of air flow and over heats in seconds or amps dropped to low to power motherboard. or motherboard is toast hard to say. best thing to do is check you voltatges on powersupply. If that seems good then it has be motherboard. or if board lights up could be Graphics card bad an just shows a black screen. possiblily look at board with popped are resistors.

either way unless its the powersupply you probably better off buy a new computer. Or build your own like a real gamer

I'm about 90% sure that it is the video card. I had a custom case for awhile, but the small case was easier to restrict access to my 3 year old. I think I have another 8600 somewhere. Either way I'll be without game access for awhile.

So I have 2 ATI 4850 graphics cards and thinking about upgrading with about budget of $250(been considering a 7850) even though my motherboard is only PCI Express 2.0.
Anyone have some suggestions on a graphics card for 250 price point and/or less. Should i wait till the next series of Nvidia and AMD cards

I tend to buy one card then SLI or Crossfire a few months down the road.

specs of pc are i7 920 and a Msi x58 motherboard that supports SLI and crossfire

At that price range you only got the 7850 and the nvidia 560ti. The 7850 is faster and sucks less power, so I would go for it. But nvidia has not come out with any budget card this generation... yet. So maybe wait for the "660" to come out and see if prices for other cards come down after that.

I would wait for the low cost Nvidia cards they will have a crazy amount of power for the money
