well regardless I have this so far
I know that the 1600mhz ram should downclock to 1333mhz, but i didnt find any of those that were cheaper, so what the hell. However anything you guys might change. He isnt a gamer so the video card really isnt important, just would like something that could speed things up that have graphic acceleration, like some forms of encoding, as he does some video work.
Secondly that's Dual channel memory and those x58 boards run in triple channel setup.
Although Dual channel kits will work. But the memory needs to only have a stock voltage of 1.65 or less. The core i series have the memory controller on the cpu die. So if you use that memory double check the voltage.

yeah its impressive that its possible to clock that high, but i find it more impressive when you can get it clocked and stable without having to put tons of money into cooling it
