    66 years ago today marked the day british, canadian, american and free french began operation overlord to reclaim europe from german control. from sea and air allied forces breached the atlantic wall and began their march to berlin.

    watched the Longest Day today for the occasion.

    i never bashed memorial day, i said things agianst specific individuals and provided proof as to why i felt that way, but we're not going to get into that here.

    off topic slightly but im sure there are plenty of people here who had relatives who thought then

    like my grand dad for instance was an RAF fighter pilot.

    anyone else?

    It's for a map I'm making. I can find some myself but those ones were too good to pass up.

    was he in the Battle of Britain? what did he fly and who with?

    my great grandfather was a merchant marine on a ship that never came back to port. thats all i know. i can dig up more when i call my grandmother.
