any branch will do. some might not take you, but others will. just go for which branch offers the best opportunity.

loka, you're technically a DEP recruit (e-nothing), then a recruit (e-1) until you're out of boot. you're a specialist once you're promoted to specialist and you actually have to make it through boot camp to be promoted at all. don't jump the gun; there are people that can't handle boot.

actually the rank system dosnt work like that in the army. i was an e2 going into basic training and an e3 when i finished. once you sign the dotted line you are a pv1. you arnt mosq'd but your still an e1. but i do agree, your really not a soldier til your done with boot.

ritalin if you are interested in the army send me a pm, i worked with the recruiters for a bit and helped loka out when she was signing up.

and whichever branch you choose, best of luck

Pretty much all branches have the same jobs, just a few maybe not available to some (usn, nuke)

If jobs aren't an issue, then just look at their deployment tables(?). I know in the navy you normally have a 2yr shore and 3yr sea tour rotation... and being on a boat produces some very different experiance (good/bad).

I'm not sure about the other branches.

But rumor is that the Air Force has the best standard of living.

But while talking to recruiters, have them buy you lunch, they got government credit cards just for that reason. AND TALK TO ALL OF THEM if you're not sure what you want.

And when dealing with recruiters, treat as car sales men... you may even want to take a lawyer with you, lol.

you sure they didn't back pay you as an e2? i'm pretty sure every branch you are an e-1 all through boot camp. you get back payed for whatever rank your 'supposed' to be.

How it works in the Marines is you get paid whatever you signed the contract to be in boot camp. For example if it says e-1 paygrade you will get that.
Most people will be privates and PFCs. (You can be a contract PFC if you have college credits.)

You will be dealing with putting people in a gas chamber for training mainly.

right, but technically you get back payed for whatever it says above e-1. i know they say you get paid while in but it definitely is back pay right after boot. read your LES after boot (if you still have it) and you will notice they pay you some odd amount that equals the difference of e3/2 - e1 pay.

loka, jigsaw is probably right about your job outlook. that's just how things work.

    here is how it works.

upon going to a recruiter, we will want to know if you wish to leave right away, or do RSP or future soldier programms. this stuff gives a jumpstart before going to basic blind folded.
it also has some promotional benifits as well

if loka is starting as a specialist, she will go to basic wearing that rank when she gets there, BUT drill sergeants will consider every one a worthless piece of shit private tell you graduate, becoming a soldier.

any ways. what ever rank you are when you leave for basic, will be the pay grade you get paid during training.

the only reinbursments i can think of after you finish are BAH miss ups. Family Seperation pay. BAS ect.
