Thread: EVE Online

  1. Default EVE Online

So I was too late for the borderlands deal and decided to go with the 5 dollar EVE Online: Tyrannis. I got my room mate and I set up with it.

Here's the question of the day: Are any of you big into it and have corps set up already? If there's an IBIS corp then I want to join! kthx!
Yeah. I'm an admin. What of it?

  2. Default

I own a Corporation called Alyids. Tentoes, Solaris, Chicken, Damion, and Bloodwolf, along with a few others are in it. You're more than welcome to message me on Steam and we'll invite you. EVE is like 100 times better with comrades.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

    Yay * 1,000,000,000,000

    Maybe this will snowball!

what is EVE exactly ive heard it was good but what is it and what do you do in it

I've been getting into EVE recently, I started an account a couple years back but only played for a couple months - didn't really have the time or money to invest in it back then. I'll probably message you later James, maybe if I see you in WCS or something.

    Blackout:

EVE is a sci-fi MMORPG with spaceships and lasorz. The universe is truly massive (absolutely ridiculously massive), and it's not divided into servers as a game like WoW is; rather, different areas are run on different servers on the back-end, but you don't see that, the universe itself has only one "server" that you log in to. The game is driven heavily by players (economy, sector control, etc.), in comparison to most MMORPGS which are almost entirely NPC-run. It's not a safe, sterile environment for n00bs. If your ship gets blown up, your ship is gone. That said, different areas of space have different security levels, and you're generally safe enough in a high-security area.

You can do pretty much anything you like - you can get into mining or salvaging for raw materials, or production of finished materials (ships, fittings, etc.), or play the market as a trader, or be a solo PvP ganker (mercenary/pirate), or just run PvE missions, or gang up and do large-scale military warfare, or be a bounty hunter, or do exploration (usually coupled with something else to exploit your findings), or... you get the idea. You can do pretty much anything you like. It's a really cool game conceptually, but it takes a lot of getting used to, and it's not for the impatient.

so far our CORP is getting into cleaning wormholes, this is where we find a fresh wormhole, go in destroy and salvage everything thing and come out with enough goods to sell and buy a PLEX. in a 24 hour period we can more than likely make enough ISK(money) to pay for another month time card. the great thing about eve is you can use money u get in game to pay for your monthly subscription. the great thing about this game is it requires you to think. even a small frigate ship can drop a large cruiser if you have the right skills and weapons combination.

You can actually pay for your monthly subscription with in-game money? I think I might check eve out then. I was hesitant at first because of that monthly subscription. Wait literally 24 hour period? Or is that in-game time.

    24 hours real time.

Hell, I'm training a skill right now that takes 37 days and 14 hours.

Some skills that you work up too take a long time but honestly if you like the game after paying for 1 month of it you will probably play it enough to make the in game money to pay for subscriptions. in all reality you will have to pay for at least 1 month but the nice thing is in that 1 month you can skill up enough to start making ISK (in-game money) and then with that in-game money you can buy subscriptions. our corp provides members with the knowledge they need to suceed in Eve and the help they need to survive. we will help you plan your skills, and equip your characters to get you started. also if any one wants to play contact James, Tentoes, or myself and we will give you a 21 day trial, its better than the 14 day trial that you get online. this is a game you can play constantly and succeed in or a game you can play once a week and succeed in, it is all based on your career path as a pilot in the massive universe that is Eve. in all honesty a pilot that chooses to go the career path of a miner can make enough ISK in 1-week to pay for 6 months subscription. My ship is a gunboat, for PVE i can fight PVP and PVE, but it is setup to tank damage, this is a great way to go for wormholes, Tentoes and myself played for about 8 hours in a wormhole and made almost 200 million ISK, a subscription for 30 days of game time costs, 374 million ISK, another 2-3 hours and we will have made enough for one of us to play a month for free.
MIning ships have a better chance at making money, you can mine for 4 hours and make enough to pay for a month subscription, the only problem is finding product to mine, sometimes its scarce, one thing is though by the time our corporation reaches then end of Janurary it will be a very productive corporation.
