When actual content starts to be added it will be easier to read against white.
the problem is that the rest of the site is dark. hell, alot of the front page is dark too. not only is the lighter color not neccessary, but leaving random areas dark makes it look even worse. all the frames for the different panels staying dark clashes horribly.
Matching forum tones would look pretty good IMO.
Make all your last demands for I will forsake you and I'll meet your eyes for the very first time, for the very last.
maynard <ibis>: they are awkward and last 2 damn long. I prefer thinner smaller ones
Here is the deal with the lighter colors. I feel that forum content is generally shorter and more broken up and thus can be read easily with high contrasting themes. Long multi page articles are best read against light backgrounds where blocks of text are easier to read. Therefore it would be ideal to have the main site be in light colors so that the articles and ads ect will work together better and also not come off so cluttered. However on the forums we have a dark theme and so my goal is to create in a way to opposed themes dark and light that work well together and that instead of clashing actually blend together creating an even better site.
Now making such a thing is not easy. There are going to be times in development that it looks like crap; however, I think that in the end we can get something that is very unique and will really help show that there really is no other place on the internet like IBIS!
So come on guys, lets just mess around with it for a bit and see what we can all come up with. I am sure that there is a way for us to make this work. Worst case we just go back to the old theme. So why not have some fun and see if we can make something incredible?
