There's not much to be concerned with here.
Media outlets uses fear mongering tactics to bring in ratings ($$$) and that's why the situation is so bad. They use clever wording that incites the idea of fear and panic. Things like "fight to avert disaster," "possible damage," and "could cause leak of high levels of radiation." I over hear people talking about the nuclear "crisis" in Japan and they have translated the media's cleverly worded articles and reports into things like "they are leaking high levels of radiation."
There's a lot of fear surrounding the use of BWRs and PWRs but to be honest it's perfectly safe to drink the primary coolant. In fact, it's as safe as drinking a bottle of water as long as you wait 5 minutes for the principle nuclides to decay.
