  1. Default Hobbies

So...i don't know if this is already posted, wasn't on the first 4 pages so...

    what are your hobbies?

currently i'm training to ride in the BP MS150, bicycle ride from Houston to Austin Texas
also started Crossfit not too long ago and i'll be starting to run as well, long term goal is to do an IronMan before i'm 35 haha, i fly Model Helicopters...well the small ones for now cause a gas powered one cost as much as my bicycle and i'd rather buy a new bicycle. I also go kart at an indoor track.

For you runners, anyone got any pointers to a regiment and is there a break in time for running shoes?

i ran cross country in high school. all shoes are different and im sure any shoe would be properly broken in within two and a half weeks if you run every day. as for a regiment and a more precise break in period to your specific shoe, google should help.

my hobbies as of late are hard driving and safe sex.

I do a lot of tinkering with adobe after effects and stuff, trying out special effects

I'm a photography nut. I got a canon rebel xt and I'm still getting used to my new Nikon d3100 (one of the first DSLR cameras to take 1080i video at 24 fps.. most others have a shitty frame rate)

    I do stencil/spray paint art:

I'd love to get into film but I really need to get into a film program at a university and I don't have the time right now because work is consuming my life. Hence why I tinker at home with after effects. But since last year I've been taking night classes at my local county cable access. I recently got certified as a tv studio technician and now I'm taking the director's class. I want to eventually start a show where I show music videos from rock/hip-hip/electronic/etc artists from the DC/Baltimore metro area and then have a live studio performance at the end of each show. I'll probably be able to actually start on it this summer, so if anyone knows any good MD/VA/DC area bands that need some exposure, let me know.

.. All this while working 50-60 hours a week as a web/db programmer

btw for the running then, stay away from treadmills and try to run with the tips of your toes. When you land on your heels you lock your knees for s split second halting all blood flow to your lower leg for like a millisecond. Surprisingly that effects run times, run speeds, and endurance.

Try running more x country on dirt before hitting the pavement, for a couple weeks at least. Every couple of years I'll go a few months span where I'll start running again and my knees get a little MEH when I first start up again. Stay on dirt for a bit or final a local high school/college track that has a rubber surface.

Keep those knees up when you run too. Get those upper parts of your leg paralell to the ground when you're running. I ran X country in high school and we did TONS of form running exercises to force outselves to have good habits when running

I ran for a a bit in my mid twenties too and did a half marathon (took about 10 months to get in shape). When I first started up I was so out of shape but I was lucky I was in a remote area at the time with lots of hills and open grassy/dirty areas
