2.5 inch HDD (unless its a netbook then 1.8), no need for a specific brand. yea raid is free, although you need two HDD to do it, and I dont think you can do that with your HP, your other choice would be to always have a bare metal backup, I have made a few of those. quite nice.

I know i could get a new HDD but to get it installed and everything costs money that i could buy a new computer for :/ From what ive seen.

our 5 year old HP finnaly craped out, though the HDD still works fine. Didnt expect it to last much longer, it would idle a 75 degrees, even after getting as much dust out we could.

So apperantley hitting the harddrive on a desk makes it work again. But now my back up disk is stuck at 4% because of this damn file named
C:\System Recovery Files\2011-04-15 074044\Program Files (x86)\HP...\explode.ogg
anyone know how to fix this damn thing:/ help is appreciated
