Thread: How To Deal With LUA Scripting Name Changers

  1. Default

    Zero,

I would like to have access to the SM_addban command. I also recommend you give it to every admin to help deal with LUA hackers.

I had another run-in with an LUA hacker today and I identified the individual via steamID quickly but I was powerless to ban via steamID. Eventually the hacker left the game and I got him via "ban disconnected player".

not a bad idea. but in the mean time, figured id let ya know in the event you weren't aware that you can manually create a ban on our sourcebans page. just click the "admin panel" then the big red X that says bans under it. if you have his steam ID you will be able 2 ban him via that route.

thats actually the fastest and safest way to ban someone when u pick up their steam id to avoid banning the wrong guy, as some admins do...

it might just be me, from force of habit, but every time i play in ibis, I always have the following tabs open on my browser on my desktop, before getting in game:

-ibis sourcebans (in case of LUA hackers, instant perma ban using steam id, or to unban someone if i ever decided to do so, because i cant remember in game command:P)

-ibis forums (for posting ban threads or "server crash" threads etc instantly, without having to wait for browse to load shit in game, also so that i see if new ban threads are open and address them)

-ibis stats pages to three servers (this helped me find hackers a 100 times before, just look a random id and see if they played before (duh), it takes forever to load so i preload it)

-ibis link-to-demos (so that i can download a demo instantly)

-www.steamidfinder.com (use it to find ppl's steam id or profile page, or vice versa, in case i needed to do background research or see if he has another name used in ibis before.

-google.com (when looking up a random steam id to see if there are priors before committing to watching someone fishy)

-maynardGayTubeStreaming.com (in case I needed to contact maynard fast for wcs responses... it costs me a few bucks , and a needle in my eyes , but its effective.)
Started from bottom. Now we here. <IBIS>

Such an overkill, Cyber... The last link has absolutely everything you need to do well in IBIS. Well, that and sometimes some peanut butter...

oh well, i do have those links always open tho, i installed an extension in chrome called "PanicButton",
it was basically designed for when someone is watching porn and someone went in the room, and u wanted to hide the shit but not lose the things u were watching lol...
it shuts down all sites and saves them in a hidden button that u can press later to reopen all those files later.
i use that to save those links above... honest:P

Best way I found to ban those name changing trolls is to type status in console and grab their user ID because sometimes when you go to the ban menu you only see the user ID and not their steam ID.

I have 'status' bound to a key which I press at the start of each round. Makes it easy to go back and identify who is who when something like this happens without having to pull a demo.
