Rezel: 1 Hr ban for a kickable first-time offense

It was a split-second reaction in my defense. It shouldn't matter because A) the rules say differently and B) I play fair 99.99% of the time.

This must be that 1% percent, then. Also, your ban isn't even that long. You should be VERY lucky that he didn't ban you for like a day or so. Still, the rules do state that you have to warn first before banning.
