To play games at large distances the best thing to do is: 100ft cat7 that will give you virtually no latency increase at 1000mbs with the lowest risk of cross talk.
If you need to go further I would still recommend cat 7 but you may need to drop down to cat 6 to save money. Here you can get 1000ft cat 6 although you will need to put the ends on. Cat5 could also work as I have run a 1000ft cat5 from the basement to the garage to the room above the garage then around that room to the closet and then to the attic and then across the attic to my closet then around that room to the computer. It worked great until the tape that held the wire up in the garage fell off and the it got caught in the chain when the garage door opened and ripped a wall off...
There may be another wireless alternative that will work at great cost. You setup a high gain directional point to point network:
