I was watching this thing on the Discovery channel about the different phases of the galaxy and how way off in the future when all the suns have burned out except the red dwarfs the galaxy will be pretty desolate and the only life will be orbiting really close to the suns. I don't know if it was all true or not but it sounded like the plot to a sci-fi game or something (Reminded me particularly of freelancer/starlancer).
