if this is the one that makes dead players unable to see anything...it's been brought up before. unfortunately, it goes a bit too far as it punishes the vast majority of legit players as well.

if the problem gets alot worse, then maybe. but i'm pretty sure we don't need it quite yet, good idea though.

It will only block people who have the same ip. As to prevent them from ghosting.
The server cvar mp_fadetoblack will only be enforced on people sitting on the same ip.

Well as much as I wish there was an easy way to solve ghosting, this just isn't practical. Sin and I live together, and I don't like the idea of seeing black after I die. First of all, if people are going to ghost, they're going to ghost. Making their screens black won't stop them from having an advantage if they're peeking while alive.

For most people who live in the same household, it would be common sense not to cheat. Sin and I never ever ever look at eachothers screens or ask where people are. It ruins the fun of the game, for one, and two..its just wrong.

Not everyone sees it that way, but for someone who plays in a household with another player, I would dislike this greatly. I like to see the action after I die

If you were a beautiful sound in the echos all around, I'd be your harmony.

I have to deal with this on ESEA, when I play with people on my friends list. It gets annoying for the simple fact that it's boring as fuck to look at a black screen after you die. This fear of ghosting is starting to get a little ridiculous in and out of the servers. There are other precautions that can be utilized, such as mp_forcechasecam, and you would still be able to spectate for cheaters.

If you really want to even out the playing field then force dxlevels, force sv_pure, force specific cvars to deter illegal customization, force material suppression variables.

Forcing fadetoblack is a minor "easy" button, that focuses solely on those few who are playing via LAN. What about all those who are potentially ghosting via Ventrilo or Mumble (instant voice-com)? I don't see ghosting as this humongous issue, because the people that do it usually troll with it, come right out and say they're doing it, or are terrible with bait calls that it isn't even noticeable, and in the end it's taken care of.

TL;DR: Ghosting should be at the bottom of the Anti-Cheat priority list, and mp_fadetoblack is a minor fix that can still be worked around using proxies if they wanted to bad enough.

    4) Use admin privileges sparingly and appropriately.

I dont know if you saw that is is a plugin, not the cvar it self.
Also I do agree with you on you points.
Proxies is a also a cvar. You can not to my knowledge use a proxy on a steam server. Unless its ok server side.
The dx level is to my knowlege set @ 8.9 ish by kac
Forcing anything above 9 is redundant, cause some people use xp still.

Either way its a nice plugin, and admins/people can easily be excluded from it.
