What would you guys think of servers contests where the prize is a free month of reserved slot? Contests such as the team in pub with the most wins win. The people who win a 3 Gg maps win (three different people). In zm, the top 5 players with the most kills win. The winning team in wcs win.

Would this be something that you would like to participate in?

Fantastic idea!

BUT

It need alot of edge work. Id love to help organize it but im not sure what you want. So for now count me as a volunteer.
Pick a date: This way admins and regulars alike can advertise the event in the servers leading up to contest day.
will there be rounds for the contest?
like, contestant 1 moves on to bracket 2 ect.?
start a list of people who will participate and which server?

i like it regardless tho. are you suggesting this to be a one day only event? orr... several days in a row? or one day every week for a month? idk
noob idea that i already know the answer too but will ask anyway; for the average Pl@Yer, one contest win would be prize-worthy sure, but what if an admins standards to get a prize would be x amount of wins out of however many contests? an their prize would be free adminz for a month woohoo!! like.. say if there were 5 consecutive contests than an admin would have to win 3-5 of those to actually get anything.

buuuut if the idea is to promote the awesomness of IBIS to the regs, an us admins cant do anythin but watch/organize.. then ok sure thats cool too

that would be awesome. i was thinking today of having a similar thing, but with admin instead of reserved slot, the ibis trustee. every month, admins 'n' clan vote on apps put up by users, winner gets a free month of a low level admin. of course i think it'd work much better just being reserved slot, mainly since it costs less :P

We can probably do one for admins later. But right now I was only thinking about doing reserve slot but we can do one for admins to show our appreciation for you guys.

It would be a monthly event due to the winners getting 1 month reservse slot. We can probably start it on the WCS server since that server is usually packed with people on the weekends. We can have a roster setup (balance to the teams and assign teams) and treat it like a scrim.

So the WCS scrim can occur over 3 different maps with swapped teams on each map once one team gets to 10 wins. Two minute rounds to ensure that the rounds don't linger with people camping as this will be purely objective bomb based maps. (No hostage maps)

Set it up on one date, probably a Friday at 8pm or 9pm. Or a date that works for everyone.

No bracket system, so the team that wins, the whole team gets reserved slot.

How does that sound?

I was just wanting to do the reserved slot just to test it out. Giving that type of admin would be much more fun to hold contests instead of just doing apps. Bias comes into play on the app process.

We don't even need to do that. The same settings for the reserved slot bracket will be applied to the admin bracket. The only thing that will be different is the prerequisites and will be held the day after the reserved slot bracket. So friday reserved slot bracket, saturday admin bracket. (no not this friday and saturday, hypothetical friday and saturdays)

What maps do you guys think is good for the wcs thing? I got dust2, inferno and nuke for the tie breaker. Good maps for wcs?

Also, I have determined that the Reserved Slot Bracket will be 21 slots, 20 players with one moderator. Admin Bracket will be 11 slots, 10 player with one moderator.

This will be tried in the WCS initially to determine how this goes. If it goes well and we have no problems, we can do this on other servers each month instead of being one server related. April is when I plan to start this. If it goes well then the May will be in ZM, and June in PUB.

I just think the idea of a competitive wcs scrim sounds really cool. I am not aware of any competitive game for a modded version of css ever being played. If done this could possibly be the very first "tournament" for a non vanilla css game in history.
