Hey, I'm not just barging in here and tossing my hat in the ring without having put some thought into this; I've looked through the other app submissions for clan, read the feedback, seen the different comments and recommendations which keep showing up again and again as reasons to be excluded from clan membership, such as

• be more active on the forum
• play on more servers
• get to know people, ie. the regulars, the admins, the clan
• follow the rules of admin as laid out by Zero
• use your admin powers responsibly
• respect other admins
• respect other clan members
• settle permban, map add/deletion, server update disputes with the clan
• be a member of the community for a long time
• help the community and servers be better on a regular (daily) basis

and most of those things I have already done. And on top of that, I have the bonus of having experience with keeping the back-end of the server running, since I've played with running my own CSS (ZMod) server before, and have run servers in my spare time. Not all applicants can claim that, and most are more concerned with conveying that they enjoy playing guitar and are in the army (Mikey), what video games they play (emTr0), and what the horsepower of their cars they've owned has been (Tragedy) than give reason that they should be given the keys to the server (RCON) and clan responsibilities.

And I already know what you referring to, maynard, since you spelled out the biggest and most important requisite of being in clan to you in Mikey's app,

it's not about just being better than before, that doesn't really matter. you need 2 make people actually like you, and want 2 support you for getting into the clan. people need 2 think you're an awesome admin and person. it's good you've mellowed down a fair bit overall.. but saying "I'm not as bad as before" isn't really much of an accomplishment. you still need 2 win the people over and actually get some support.

.. but look -- I love the servers. I love the people in the servers. I love playing on the servers, and I want to give back to the community. Thats why I keep buying admin from time to time, and thats why I don't skip off to another bunch of servers run by other clans. I've skipped studying for tests because sometimes I just have a CSS itch that can't be scratched without people like

So hey, I'm not oblivious at all, maynard. I know why I want clan, and who to thank for making me want clan. But like I said before, if those other things I've listed above which actually matter aren't enough for clan, and if getting in all comes down to some circle-jerk popularity contest, and you guys think I just don't care about the community enough or you don't like me for whatever bullshit reason -- even though I find myself coming back for more and giving back as much as I get -- then fuck it, I don't want anything to do with clan. But it's not me that is oblivious, it's you. I know why I'm here. And I'm not going away.

Dude, listen up. I don't know what kind of fantasy land you have made up in your head, but it's time to wake up. Even a clan member told you don't have a slight clue to what clan is.

I find it interesting that you think that just because you ran a server gives you an up on being clan. Almost any idiot can run a server. Even wassabi,the biggest idiot of them all, put one up, and I don't think he's getting into clan. Also that's your server, and it has nothing to do with IBIS.

Clan members got in by being here everyday, not just when they had a 'CS:S itch'. It baffles me how you can think that being active on the forums, and interacting with the community are of no importance. Being known for your character is very important. I want you to take notice of the clan you see here like Maynard, Anex, Rezel, and Rapedollar$. Look how long they have been here. Look how much they interact with the community. Look at how much they have helped the community. Clan are known leaders of the community, people that stick out right away when you first come to IBIS, and in a good way. I didn't even know you existed till months after I first joined the forums.

The more and more I read this thread the more and more I realize that people don't want you in the clan. Some how you still think that people do, remember the 'one -1 and +5'. I don't know but that screams delusional to me.

The people you mentioned who have clan apps, never got in the clan, and probably never will. So I don't understand how that is a valid response. (and I mean emtro, Mikey.)

I also find is interesting that you stole that quote from cyber, but are not living up to the words. You have only have argued, instead of saying 'be more active, alright I can do that!' Says a lot about your character. In my experience, those who's actions don't match their words don't get much respect.

Maybe I am going out on a limb here, but what I have learned so far by your very own responses, only backs up my case.

Ness, your just not known anywhere out of zmod itself. Forums dont know you, neither do the other 4 servers.
You need to be more then just a normal regular. You need to be a well known regular who is a well known leader as others have said.
I said it in my last post here, you look at the people here and you see alot of people that a very well deserving of clan, but are not in that group of people they are even considering. Go ahead, through your name in the hat, just dont think its going to be pulled unless you prove yourself.

Look, I never said you were a bad admin. My laptop was broken for that year, so I can't judge, I'm sure you were at least decent. I also never said that playing CSS was not about having fun. But to me, you truly seem like a person whose desire for fun will speed past every traffic light of legality. Not saying that you are a carefree rule breaker, just someone that might take things too far. Annoying things.....like taking advantage of exploits. Yes, Naked carried all of the blame, but if you were the law-abiding & community-loving player you say you are, I wonder then, how is it possible that you did not report the incident on a gut feeling of "this is wrong." Unlike many other old zm players, I can't yet put you in the section of players that I know will have fun and play, all the while maintaining integrity and following every letter of the law even in the absence of admins.


I wonder why most of the names you just listed are familiar to me.... maybe it's because much of their first days in IBIS were in the ZM server? Geez, some of those names can only be found in the ZM server..... (psst! i love you all!!! )


Mhmm, using italics, that's pretty dangerous shit there Some of your qualifications aren't bad Ness. But do try to understand and respect the weight that comes with the decisions reached on this application. Some people may just be offended when you say that your community isn't a life-long commitment. You seem to greatly lack dedication, trust, and it seems most of all, attitude. Your experience on how things are run around IBIS is also questionable. Your disregard of the forums is interesting in that this place, the forums, is the home of the archangel, a medium for his thundering voice and his powerful right fist. I think more than a few of us are irked by this app because your inactivity on the forums alienates you from frequenters; most of us know you in game, but what you are truly like... the community would love to know and judge by a stronger forum presence. ESPECIALLY when you're applying for the most prestigious title this community has to offer. I still believe you don't know what it takes to be in the IBIS clan. I ran multiple servers around many source engines, many many many boxes, a lot of people can do so if they dig in it deep enough, dabbled here and there in code, pretty much ran a clan, that doesn't make me or you much more qualified in an app here. Realize, Zero runs and does about everything himself and likes to keep it that way, IBIS has been around for ages and that is just one reason, so that has no merit here at all. I have even helped Clan set up there own supported side projects, helped with countless things. That has no merit on my app as far as technical "support" goes, and I never expected it to. It's about keeping things nice and fair and helping in a community you love, then just maybe, you may get recognition and actually be mentioned to be put in a higher place.

Anyway, Maynard denied you app, that pretty much means your fucked for the most part.

Didn't say they got into the clan, said they thought completely unrelated information qualified them for clan.

1. Quote was borrowed so I didn't have to rephrase "please give feedback if you put -1 so I know what to work on".
2. Can't really improve my activity around the game servers until my RMA'd 6970 comes back from Sapphire.
