Well, the actual book was about the Western front. Other than that, Remarque is one of my favourite authors and I've read most of his books at least twice. IMHO, this one was one of his weaker ones too. Have you ever read the Black Obelisk or 3 Friends?

sorry, i should have clarified. damn good book we were forced to read for school. when compared to dubliners and other such things, it was a fucking godsend. i'd say, 6/10. would not read again. (most books we had to read were 2 or 3/10, would gladly burn again)

Fair enough. I'd rate 7.5/10 or 8/10 whereas some of the others are 9's and 10's. The only author for me personally that matches his brilliance is Tolkien and *maybe* G. R. R. Martin.
