Lol The settlers were thankful for not getting the plague that they gave the Indians when they first got there. They thought God was on their side. That's what they were thankful for.

Sure Squanto helped the pilgrims survive, but only because he was one of the only people left from his tribe because of the plague killed the majority of them.
