    off topic slightly but im sure there are plenty of people here who had relatives who thought then

    like my grand dad for instance was an RAF fighter pilot.

    anyone else?

    he was in the battle of britain he flew spitfires in No. 610 Squadron.

    nice dude, spitfires were the best, they made them right here in my home town too, great plane.

    yeah he loved that plane. but in late 1944 he transferred to 247 Squadron Typhoon fighter bomber where he flew tank hunting missions over the ardenne.

    my great grandfather was a merchant marine on a ship that never came back to port. thats all i know. i can dig up more when i call my grandmother.
