Re: http://www.ibisgaming.com/forums/showthread.php/9348-What-s-the-verdict-on-bunnyhopping
bhopping has now apparently been disabled completely by the server... I have been able to bhop for quite a while now, using my spacebar (though I do have +jump set to mwheelup, just for crouch spots). It takes a good ping, a decent PC, and just plain good timing even when using the mousewheel. Now several maps are just about impossible for zombies to catch any humans who even have 1/2 of a clue on what they're doing, and I would like some type of answer as to why this was changed at the server level, when in the linked thread, even Maynard said that bhopping would be allowed on the server.
We allowed bunny hopping b/c I had yet to find a way to prevent it from the server side. For the maps that only work if players are bunny hopping those maps need to be configured to fix this issue.
Also I should note that inversely it is possible to enable it back on a map by map basis. So for example if there truly are maps which require this it can be allowed on those maps.

I said bhop is legal... not that it would always be.

This would be useful. While some maps like Death Star and Parking Lot Escape have become much easier and are fun to play through, there are certainly maps like boatescape_101, jurassic park story, and a few others that have become too easy imo for the humans. While I can agree that bhopping can decimate a team, I wish players would just learn to shoot behind them at the zombies... Also, the changes have not completely remedied the "crouch spot" jumping which I would argue is a more pressing exploit of the server (as opposed to the days when a shotgun in the face actually pushed zombies back).
But yeah, keeping the option of having it on or off like parachutes would be great to at least encourage some "challenge" in the server. I'm still getting a feel for how this is effecting the server myself so I won't comment past the above for now.
For the maps that need it please submit config requests for. I will be processing config and new maps for zm by the end of next week.

I doubt many maps need this, people got sloppy playing zombie, i still see bhop as easy mode. there zombie classes for purpose. maybe zero could make special class for ze maps or something that can use bhop.

I would argue that no map should have it.
It would be funny if there was a bhop class zombie.

Why after all this time is it being disabled. Personally i feel it is removing a key element from the ibis server, one that most of the regulars do enjoy. I could see it being disabled after the first few months of the server being active, but now bhopping zombies are a part of the game and a commonplace to defend against. Although it has been argued that it ruins the game, I feel that it is quite the opposite. Over time the zombies have remained balanced without changing this, so I do not see the reasoning for removing it so late in the servers life. If you can provide good reason I will accept it, after all it is your server and you make the rules, i am just curious as to why you are removing a key feature for many players after it has become accepted serverwide.

I haven't been in server recently, so disabled as in... the acceleration settings and tick rates were changed?

All I see are hopping zombies that don't realize that I can see them.

Basically, imagine no long jump capabilities (lower TR i'm guessing) and acceleration is now at near or absolute 0. I'm noticing some zombie classes may need to be re-visited as far as giving them a slight increase in power (maybe a minor speed boost in some), but the idea of a bhopping class to satisfy the regs, that could be interesting... would like to see if this could be possible?

There short list what could be done,
1. Knock back on some classes might be increased a little due the lack of avoidance
2. Remove predator xp and make the normal predator slightly better
3. make new zombie class who can b-hop, but make it so it got fairly visable skin, so ct's can clearly see it it with also good overal coverage on the hitboxes.

Man, getting around a map as a zombie is like playing with human specs... Feels like I'm practically dragging my feet around as a predator.
That invisibility + mobility combo will be sorely missed
I am going to try a tweek which should result in a middle ground. The real issue is not that there was bunny hopping but how insainly fast you could get while doing it which was not originally intended or possible years ago.

The new setting should in theory allow limited bhopping while reducing the original effectiveness by 50%.
Zero, we are going to have to reduce the knockback and increase the health of the zombies to offset it. As of right now, one player can just camp a zombie and kill it and theres no possible way to tag him. I started out as a mother zombie with 11,000 health and left because one guy got my health down to 2,000 and there was nothing I could do. There was no point.

it is a challenge if it's a good cade, bhopping doesn't affect most good cades. it has a bigger effect on ze maps.
