So...
I just found out about 6:30PM on 4/19 that I have a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia Beach....Warrant was issued on 4/16
Its a Warrant for Arrest for a Misdemeanor....Simple Assault...
I am going to turn myself in on Monday Morning and was told not to worry....your opinions?
---------- Post added at 01:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:26 AM ----------
Also considering that I was the victim of a 5 on 2 brutal attack.....My friend who also got mailed the warrant spoke to his father who is a judge for Virginia Beach and he will be representing us. I will meet with him on Monday before court.
Anyone in the area know what Im looking at even if they don't say that I was the victim? (Considering that I was knocked out and sent to the hospital for stitches even though I never laid a finger on him?)

Well I am pressing charges just for them to cover my hospital bills due to no insurance...and my friends father (who is a judge in VA Beach) did say that he could get me pain and suffering which I was not interested in.....but since I was the clear victim (and after speaking to the first responding cop who clearly said he saw the whole thing) how am I getting served with a warrant for my arrest if I wasn't arrested or given a citation?
Are the people that actually did the attack being charged!?

Well after speaking to the lead detective, I told him I was pressing charges and left the matter with my friends father who happens to be a judge.

I have to say that this sounds like complete bs. Obviously, I'd highly recommend not doing anything stupid and giving them any reason whatsoever to actually press charges or to accuse you of anything. Hopefully, this is just a misunderstanding, but if not, I'm hoping my best to you.

I have the security team working that night behind me....I have the girl who I was protecting behind me....I have the video cameras from the pizza parlor and the cops testimony....
Im just worried that something could go wrong...considering that most searches I found show that it is a Class 1 and it could spell trouble for my career

Best advice I can give, just go with the process of the system, no matter how unfair it may seem at first. If you've done nothing wrong and you have good counsel on your side everything will work itself out. You have to understand that people will throw charges around as a means of making you uncomfortable or riling you up to the point where you may not necessarily be charged, but they could paint a picture of just a fight where you are both at fault. The system ain't perfect, but if you go with the flow it will be fine, just need to keep calm, cool, and collected, but it sounds like you got that covered.
If there is one fact about our legal system it is this, if the gov wants to fuck you prepare to get fucked. Otherwise it is just a question of who has the most money to spend on defense they will just keep charging you with bs until you run out of money. The only way out is to have a connection which you have so congrats your in the 1% unfuckable gov connection category. (unless you actually did something wrong)

This depends on your record. I see a PBJ and possible exspongement with your connections, the situation, and a good defense (which you have) if your record is clean. If it's dirty, prepare to be handing over the state a good bit of money to clear that shit.

Clean record here.
I have the evidence and just contacted the pizzeria for the tape which they are gladly handing over to me.
I am covering myself from all sides here but it was them who instigated and I know that my friends dad (the judge) will do right by me so.

Before the actual trial, i would rehearse with your defense and witnesses. Having them prepared to speak will do you a world of good. Clamy, stage frightened people may not help.
I.e. You have a witness who saw the entire thing, is being a 100% honest on the stage but is not taken as seriously due to constant stuttering and nervousness.
Aside from that and what everyone else has said, lets hope you have clients who are understandable and have even a shred of a sense of humor. Assuming you still run your own business. You should be perfectly fine, even if the reason for you having a warrant is based off what the perps said in there statements.

a single night in jail [...], just a pain in the ass. "I see what u did there"... Pack some KY in asshole hitman, u never know when u gonna need it! No but seriously jokes asides, im not a law person but u can always play the self defense card especially when u and ur friend got hospitalised and u turned urself in as soon as u found out about the warrant. I dnt think it's gonna be that bad but just really annoying to keep up with any legal obligations like courts and meetings (+ fees if any) to get this shit handled in a busy lifestyle
Jeez Hitman. No wonder you've disappeared for a few days.

Wow you got lucky getting a court date so fast. My precourt date is still a month away. Also seems weird that you would get a warrant in the mail for an assault charge need more detail on how you got pinned with that o.0.

Well went in on Monday expected to get booked.
The following happened:
NOTHING! Just signed a piece of paper acknowledging that I am to appear to court on May 15th. The attacker has decided to press charges as a scare tactic. So since the Commonwealth of Virginia is pressing charges on my behalf, he is trying to pin everything on me and my friend.
Now, I have a judge defending me, many witnesses, a cop who saw the whole thing and he still wants to press charges....lol
BTW, Class 1 Misdameanour for Assault and Battery
So when do you get your LOVE and HATE knuckle tattoos?
pffft pussy shit. When i was 11 I was on probation for derailing a train.... And im honestly not joking. swear to god thats true.

What are the punishments for that? jw.
Not that you will get convicted since you have everyone and their mother backing you up...

Finally, the most serious types of misdemeanor crimes are considered Class 1 misdemeanors. Crimes such as simple assault, battery, carrying a concealed weapon, alcohol possession by a minor, petit larceny, and possessing marijuana are classified as Class 1 misdemeanor crimes. The penalties for these types of offenses include a maximum one-year jail sentence, and/or a fine of up to $2,500. In some cases, many of the offenses that fall within this category can be treated as a felony.
So Max 1 year is jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500.00
Since I am being charged by the attacker and not the state, this should go very well for me.

PBJ'ed for Marijuana, 250 deferred, 250 a month later, done and done. :wtg:
Medical use approved and fully passed. Decriminalization of 10 grams and under on the way (Passed Senate). Bills for wholesale with a 50% excise tax, 100$ a year fee, 100$ per plant(Passed Senate). So damn close. I don't even smoke like that, but agree it's a great idea financially and liberally in the big picture.
With that backing, I can't see any downsides for you. They may be pretty pissed at him for wasting all their time. Hopefully the idiot lies along the way and is held for perjury.

actually, depending on how your state handles this shit, this won't even hit real court. it would most likely be stopped at grand jury, as the state must decide to prosecute for criminal charges (though, the other guy could still file against you in civil court, as a tort)
