laptop help

got a laptop over here for $20 but i have some complications. The one i got is much better then the one i am using. Better CPU, more ram, with an additional ram slot and better graphics capability. (for simple games ofc) The only issue with this new laptop is that the power plug in is busted (like the inside prong part). Where as my laptop im currently using is working fine, which also uses the exact same part that is used in the new one for power.

I would like to exchange the part into the new laptop as for the reasons above but am not sure. I am having a difficult time getting the keyboard off, i have taken out all the screws, peeled stickers and rubber sitting pads to search for hidden ones but to no avail, it seems to be stuc k by just 1 screw that appears to accessed from the keyboard side of the laptop. Im confused, is there a secret to popping off the keyboard and accessing the hardware that i am missing?

The case opening instructions for each brand and model of laptop are different. Try Googling or searching YouTube for your particular brand/model along with 'keyboard removal' or 'motherboard replacement' and it will give you a ton of results I'm sure.

That said, this type of part is unlikely to be switchable between machines, and even if it is able to swapped you're going to need a decent tool set, likely including a soldering device of some sort.

I figured it out, the keyboard in itself popped out, i was trying the whole front panel at first. The part that was broken, literally popped right out and plugged into the mother board. Seeing as how the power supply and battery are exactly the same, im almost positive i will not have any further issues. if there are complications, then ill just take the ram and bigger hard drive and use it in the laptop i am using now.

So i just installed a new RC jack for the laptop i mentioned above, ordered the exact piece to replace it with, after installing the part and turning the laptop on.. i had issues ):

The LED remains black, dosnt even go to that "faded" black screen. Its like there isnt any power to it. I then tried the VGA and HDMI inputs, no display. What might be the problem? Is there any fix?

Current tests:

Powered on while plugged in and on battery
Without HDD and RAM
Without HDD
Without Ram
With HDD and RAM


All same results

when that happened to me, it was because my gpu was fried.

it actually fried when i was updating windows too, and of course the computer crashed when it did cuz the drivers freaked out, so ya know, it fucked up my windows. i was then able to reinstall windows but any time it would try to load gpu drivers it'd just freeze.

but in your case, we'll hope it's just a fucked up connection somewhere along the line.
