Holy shit 5 hours later I finally got it to the point where it turns on and admin works. The amount of firewall and white list settings to get admin working holy shit it has been a long time dealing with that lol. Then the dam commands for cs:go are a joke compared to cs:s I mean what shit head coded this clusterfuck.

Well hopefully tomorrow I can get gg working. The real cluster fuck is going to be dealing with the maps.

I don't know much about cs:go but doesn't that seem like too many levels? I think most gg servers on go have like ~23 levels. But, I'm not sure as I don't play it much. Would love to see a cs:go-er's opinion on that

I have added all of these and some other maps so we are at 17 total for now. As we move further into testing we will remove any bad maps and try to start the server with some core maps that everyone will want to play. We should also investigate if there are any new popular cs:go maps that we have never played that may attract players.

Is GG popular on CSGO? Looking at Gamebanana the last uploaded map for GG was 2 months ago.

These is likely more maps on the workshop most likely.

Also remember that valve makes it so that mods are virtually non existent in go. Most of the servers and players are on valves servers using match making and quick play. The actual number of real players in CS:GO is significantly less than CS:S. It is better to think of CS:GO as 98% console gamers. There is something like 14 gg servers for the entire game, 4 of which have players. However, I do not believe that many of the servers in CS:GO offer a "classic" take on gg as we do and as a result we should be able to attract many players who long for the classic style gg.

So I figured out that your server will get an icon in the server list for the mod your running based not on the mod your running but valve detecting the name of the maps your running. Therefore all maps need to have gg_ in order for this to work correctly.

I will adjust all our maps accordingly when I have time, this will really help people find the server as new users when it goes live.

It is currently configured enough for general testing. Still got a lot of tweaks to work out though.

I do plan to give at least 2 nades on nade level b.c of how much harder it is on go.

when i started playing GO, i had some issues getting the mouse movement to feel as responsive as it does in cs:s. i'm pretty sure it's been ironed out by now, but if anyone has that sort of issue just hit me up and i can offer some suggestions.

so for one the demo doesn't show the status command, and you told me to post about how the tab menu doesn't show the level of the user, it currently shows the amount of kills.

I think the last column shows the score. When the next map started, kills showed 0 but the last column called score was 1 for everyone. May or may not be it

I think he means the gg but yea I have been delayed fixing the cs:s servers from valve updates first. Now that the cs:s servers are fixed I can go back to working on the go stuff b/c it looks like I am going to need to fix some of these plugins myself.

I need to have exact steps as to what a player must do in order for the scoreboard to get messed up. Does it only occur when they get kills while using bot takeover? Should we just have bot takeover disabled anyways?

It does happen when we take over a bot, but it also doesn't auto update the lvl after every kill. It waits untill the end of the round and then it updates. Yes we should disable the bot takeover because that can start to become an easy way to avoid tk'ing or slays/breaking rules and then continue to play. I would say stop the bot take over for now and we can test it again to make sure the scoreboard will show the correct lvl. The only other thing I can thing of that you might be able to fix is possibly having it update after every kill instead of at the end of the round.

Ok the only reason it is not playing sounds now is that on cs:s we use a custom version that I programed which supports more custom sounds. I got to merge the changes from my cs:s version with the patched cs:go version.

I tested and it actually messes it up when the round ends. It works correctly and then at round end it resets to incorrect values.

I have corrected the issue with levels resetting at round end by having a program reset them every round end/start so they will stay synced up properly.

The server now has 30 total maps. Please be sure to post if any of them are broken so they can be removed. All maps have been renamed to use the new tagging system to help the server list as a gg server in cs:go. I have also implemented the custom load screens at the same time. You will see them after you have downloaded the files but not before.

They are releasing unannounced server updates for go every few days. I am testing out some ways of automating the updates because the updates generally do not break mods that often but instead are more arbitrary.

two things:

1. ff damage is at 100% of regular damage, should be reduced as it is in source

2. doubt there's anything we can do about it, but this can still happen. gun kills counting as nade kills.

tick 54000, i throw some nades, knife my teammate, steal his gun, kill two dudes with one shot, and it counts as a nade kill. it's the penetration kill that counts.

the wiki page (http://counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Friendly_Fire) says "roughly 50%", but i my brief testing showed it was closer to 33%. i went on a server with bots, shot my teammate in the head twice from close range with a p228, did 104 damage. hit the other bot in the head from roughly the same distance with the same gun, did 148 in 1. 148 damage/hit on opponent, 52 damage/hit on teammate. that was also what i had expected based on what i remembered. by default GO should use that same percentage for ff attacks, not sure why it isn't on this gg server.

yes it did, and no I haven't tested on humans in GO, but i know it happens against humans on the css server. here's an older thread (http://www.ibisgaming.com/forums/showthread.php/6761-Weird-glitch) which mentions it happening. probably a glitch within the source engine, or the gg mod itself which carried over from source to GO.

by default go uses 0. It is controlled by:
ff_damage_reduction_grenade 1
ff_damage_reduction_bullets 1
ff_damage_reduction_other 1
ff_damage_reduction_grenade_self 1

I had to change those from 0.

But you are correct that they have non 0 default values despite valve forcing the configs to 0. I will set them to their engine defaults.

ff_damage_reduction_grenade_self 1 - there is no default value.

I think we should leave nade at 1 given how low damage they are compared to cs:s. These changes are live, let me know if we need to adjust the ff further.

something's not right with this. as it is, that means ff damage is just 10%. i just tested in a server with bots on GO, and by default team attack damage there is 33% for bullets. on our source gg server, it seems closer to 25%; either way, it's not 10%. i'm not sure i've ever seen a server with 10% ff damage. my guess is that the default values for a casual server are 25%, bumped up to 33% for competitive, and i'm not sure where the 10% value comes in. part of me wants to say it's fine at 10%, cuts down on team attackers, but then you see numbers like this: 31 in 18, 22 in 11, 19 in 10 with a galil, or 42 in 42 with a pp-bizon. doing 1 damage per hit with smg's and pistols, 1-2 damage with rifles on teammates doesn't make much sense.

the grenade damage should definitely be left at 1, as it is in source iirc. currently, it's not. a grenade landing right under a teammate does ~13 damage

Also I can announce that the auto go update system works! It was able to automatically restart the server and update it yesterday morning and as expected valve never sent out any message declaring there was an update. With the surprise updates in go it is impossible to run a server without such a system in place.

ff feels good now. all that's missing is nominate/rtv, and minimaps are glitched out and don't display properly, but that's a common problem with custom maps in GO and i don't know if there's anything that can be done about it.

ok good, then I just need to update the code to make sure admins can not kick or ban the spec bot and that is done.

In order to set up the database I got to take the existing gg one offline for a bit. The stats are the last major thing to get working.

Go creates like 3 separate log files per map instead of 1. I am trying to figure out how to unify them. This fix is required for stats to work.

Please play some test rounds now. I think I got it working after reducing some map names to <32 characters. I bet the issue was being caused by a buffer overflow that was not being reported in the error log.

that's awesome, just like valve to fuck everything up. I think the server was fun and since it would be one of the only cs:go servers with gg in it I think it would gain popularity quickly, that is when it gets fixed and working again.

lol well I like the bots, except for the fact that you could take control of them. the fact that you could take control of them I feel really ruined it and make it really easy to rank whore because you wouldn't get a death for being killed as a bot but you would get a kill if you killed someone while controlling a bot

deaths in that way are recorded in the stats. When you die it knows you died as a bot. Just because it does not appear on the scoreboard does not mean it is not being logged. Also keep in mind that your rank in gg is based off the actual level events. If you look back there was a thread a few years ago where we determined what the math would be. Taking over a bot as far as the stats matter is exactly the same as if you yourself were playing from the beginning.

I am starting to think that maybe we can not have bots in cs:go because of the way that valve punishes servers with them. For example when there is 1 player on our server it will show up as 0/11 on the server list. When there is 2 players it will show as 1/11 players on the server list.

Yes now that we have gotten a few of the bugs here and there such as those map issues fixed I will start getting it added to the motds on the servers and on the home page and will start getting some in game chat ads for it on our cs:s servers. :wtg:

Currently they are started banning jailbreak servers and zombie mod servers from cs:go. Apparently if you give users a custom skin like we do for admins or like we do for zombies they will vac ban your server and your account. This ban will apply to all the servers on the account and all servers at that ip forever.

That makes... no sense. Valve has always been pro mod even with patches breaking them.

After issuing VAC bans to multiple servers this week valve post facto updated their post here: http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/server_guidelines/ with the following changes:


[To clarify: it is also not acceptable to provide players with custom models and/or weapon skins that do not exist in the CS:GO ecosystem]


In January 2016, we permanently disabled Game Server Login Tokens belonging to server operators that were providing free or paid services that falsified the contents of a player’s profile or inventory.

So this clearly applies to things like zombie mod where users are given custom zombie models.

From those articles, it seems that the changes were made because someone isn't profiting as much as they would like to. It's a shame that this is a monetary issue.

Im pretty sure this is valves doing. It happens when there is bots in the server.
Its to stop server owners putting bots in to populate them.

Yea it appears that valve updates now randomly remove the contents of the map list and obviously I did not have any backups b/c why the fuck would I think they would delete my maps list. This is what I mean that valve does everything it can to kill community cs:go servers.
