my 360 has been working like a champ since I got it 1 1/2 years ago. that thing gets played everyday for an hour or 2. I've gone through all 3 halo games, COD4 and COD5, madden 09 and currently on madden 10, both GOW, GTA4, Assassins Creed, Prototype, BF:BC, Rainbow Six: vegas2.

all those games with all achievements unlocked and the thing still works better than your mom on her best day. the only thing that the PS3 has over the 360 is the blu-ray drive. That's the only thing.

I know this song is old and a lot of things have changed since then. I also acknowledge 360's are fucking unreliable. I have sent mine in 5 times but I still love it. It's just so much better for online and has better games.

I bought a PS3 and an Xbox 360 at launch....

Guess what a year later 360 got red ring of death...
I wont buy another X box 360 EVER!!!!! Having an almost 50% fail rate is un acceptable.

but the PS3 mostly just sits and collects dust (stilll play MGS4 and Disgaea 3 every now and then). I loved my PSX and my PS2 but Ive moved on from console gaming.


Honestly though this thread was a fail before it got started most of the poeple on here are hard core PC gamers so of course your gonna side with microsoft. Xbox 360 is more like a gamin pc/console hybrid.

If there is a game I want to play for either 360 or PS3 nowadays my best bet is just to wait for the PC release!

added: on a side note some good advice that saves me money is pick up Gamefly. I normally beat most games in a day or two so its just not worth dropping $59.99+ on a new title. Since I own a PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox, Gamecube, and DS it saves me hundreds (on games Id like to play that are worth a play but not worth buying).

All of the gaming consoles are made by Taiwanese manufacturers that have the majority of the parts created in red China. All three have an IBM processor, two ATI graphics and PS3 with Nvidia. So, most of the technology inside is American, albeit 3-5 year old technology.

The only money Sony or Microsoft makes comes from game publishers that need to pay licenses for their developer's to sell a game on a platform. The license makes up at most 5-8% of the total cost consumers spend on gaming and most of that goes to subsidizing the cost of the console (since Xbox 360 and PS3 are sold at a loss for the most part).

Meanwhile, retailers make at minimum 8-12% on every sale of console or game (more in the first several months of a game's release) and game developers make 30-40%. Both of which are mostly Americans.

So, to make a nationalistic argument is pretty silly since most of the money will be going to Americans in any case.

I think it's easier to make the argument against the Xbox 360 because it's higher failure rate could be seen as fleecing American consumers.

me, gaming includes table top role playing games with teh books, dice and making your own world, story and characters. but than again, if your into that, like i am, than your just as sad as i am.

If you prefer the older games, then stick to what you love. I like to try new things and see what innovations are implemented and what kind of story and feel the game gives, so i'll constantly try new things.

bash new games if you want to, but just remember, everyday will bring a new person into the gaming world that hasn't played all the older games you have and to them the game of the topic may be the best or the worst game they have ever played. You had to start somewhere, you loved ureal. did older gamers say negative things about that game and the people who liked it? new gamers have to start somewhere too. Let them learn for theirselves and enjoy what they experiance.

Well anex your choice... a monitor is never a bad decision... neither is a PS3... Xbox 360 great if you want gears of halo grand theft auto 5 and dont mind re buying the same system. I play my PC more than any system since the playstation... end of story.

I cant count how many computers Ive had that I have gamed on.

There is nothing wrong with defending a console cause to be honest, they are all awsome, cept the jokes like the Virtual boy and Jaguar. Even the dreamcast had a decent lineup good enough to make me buy it twice. Its bashing a system for no other reason other then to bash it and defend your purchase that annoys the ever loving piss out of me. Yeah, the 360 RRODs, but it had some good games, and XBL is very friendly. However, its getting too cluttered, and running like shit when it comes to the actual online playing. Playing a game online goes to PSN and its dedicated servers. The PS3 had a "weak lineup" 3 fucking years ago. That was 1 year after 360 came out. Get over it fanboys. Both are great consoles.

What did you play? Thats the thing too. For me, The Metal Gear series is what keeps me coming back. I couldnt imagine not playing MGS4. GOTY last year IMO. Yet everyone was leghumping the rehashed GTA.

update: ps3 slim sold 500,000-600,000 in its first week =D

PS3 software also saw significant increases - many PS3 versions of multi-platform titles comfortably outselling their 360 counterparts this week. The big question will be how long can this bump be sustained for - we expect a fair dropoff next week but PS3 should remain ahead of 360 and Wii for most of September if not longer than that.

I'm not going to get into this fight about XBOX 360 and PS3. Just glad to see PS3 starting to pick up some ground in sales. If it wasn't for competition the console price would be still high. Look at the wii, when will it ever drop its prices.
