I hope it's not too presumptuous to make a thread within 24 hours of joining, but... Well dammit, just deal with it.

So it snowed today... And, being from Florida, I thought that was kind of retarded. All the Canadians around here seem to dread winter, so I started trying to think of good things about it.

Here are some:
01. Hot chocolate/tea
02. Cats/pets become more cuddly
03. You get to wear hats and cover up your hair if it needs washing (YOU KNOW YOU'VE DONE IT)
04. You don't have to mow the lawn

So... Anyone have any other reasons for me not to dread the long & hard winter ahead of me? I'm trying to get a positive outlook, here...

Ooh, and I really like it when you're super cold (especially your feet) and you take a scalding hot shower. And the water on your feet feels even HOTTER than it actually is because they're so cold...

well us canadians do these things....

Vacation

Crank up the Heat

Turn to channel 110 on shaw cable for the fireplace

Curl up on the couch with a nice warm blanket and drink scotch and watch reruns of House M.D.

Put on your winter jacket boots etc.. and game on winter maps making it feel more real...

(in ghetto houses only) turn on the oven and leave the door down...

take a nice warm shower with a nice looking girl and have her go down on you....

call us all over with our computers and together we can game and generate enough heat to probably kill the computers...

So... what I've gotten from this thread, is that Ren used to live in FL and moved to Canada (WTF?! Dumb), UTE is a fucking homo who likes to circle jerk around a bon-fire, Mallissin drinks tea... and Getcha still has the Downz.

This thread is full of WIN.

Don't like:

1) Frostbite. (I used to bicycle to highschool in -35°C (-31°F) weather, and that wasn't fun, since you couldn't breathe.)

2) Strong, cold harsh winds.

3) Shoveling mounds of snow.

Like:

1) Cut down on beer (beer is only REALLY good if you drink it ice cold on hot days after doing physical work). Hot tea and hot chocolate in winter.

2) Rye whiskey.

3) Skating with someone special (gotta find someone special first).

4) Family get-togethers at Christmas.

5) Why would you go on a warm vacation during winter? Who doesn't love snow!?

It's about 90 degrees here.. And it'll only go down to about 75-85 by Christmas day.

So there really is nothing I like about winter down here in Florida.. Apart from it not being 100 degrees..

And dude, change your sig.

that sucks james. im up in sc and im happy that it actually started cooling down. it was seventy a few days ago. also its amazing in the morning cuz its chilly. but yesterday and today have been eighty five for some reason :/

@walter: damn if it was -31°F in my area, school would be cancelled lol

Apple Cider with mulling spice
Chi with pumpkin spice
Turkey

OMG! SAME IN BOISE!!

grew up in the south.

In the south, it's kind of worse b/c it's a super penetrating humid cold that no amount of layering up will help.

In the north, it's a dry cold that isn't as penetrating. 'cept the windy days.

DISLIKES:
~Icy Roads.
~Having to warm up the Car.
~Scraping the Ice off the Car.
~The first melt... when the top layer of snow is still there, but underneath is a huge slushy ready to eat your feet.

LIKES:
~cuddling
~Lower Electric bill b/c i like it cold.
~Burning calories while bordering hypothermia with shivering (increase weight loss with tape worm and laxatives)
~SNOW! SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW!
~your breath when it's cold.
~the sound of snow crunching underfoot.
~the air smells cleaner.
~S'MORES!!!!
~Layering up for warmth.
~using a blanket on the couch.

Vacation, check. Going to Florida for 2 weeks in December/January! Get to see the folks and my brother.

Ahahahah my relatives TOTALLY turned on the fireplace channel while we were unwrapping presents at Christmas, and I thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever... It made me laugh a lot.

And I think I'm definitely going to try gaming on a winter map with my jacket, toque, and boots on.

For shits & giggles (not really). I'm a permanent resident, woot woot! It's almost been exactly a year since I became a permanent resident. I don't have any particular plans for getting my citizenship because as far as I know it would mean revoking my US citizenship, and I don't want to do that. Besides, pretty much the only things I can't do as a p.r. are vote and get a Canadian passport, which is fine with me.

(YES, I'M AN IMMIGRANT. Please make jokes.)

Man.. If you knew how dreadful the scorching heat and humidity of Florida is.. You would love Canada..

Right now it's 90+ degrees in my room, and its the middle of the night with my fan on. I'm sweating it's so hot in here..

I remember when I went up to Ohio during winter, and it snowed a bit.. I believe that was the first time I had ever seen snow in person. Was pretty beautiful. And it wasn't really cold to me.

Yeah, i really hated the heat & humidity of Florida. I didn't even like the beach. The only thing I really miss about Florida is my family & the familiarity of everything.

I'm really enjoying actually having SEASONS. I look pretty stupid sometimes, though. Someone will say, "Did you bring in the garden hose yet?" and I'll be like "What, why?" Because you don't have to bring your garden hoses in in the Florida winter, dammit.

Your dog has a sweater?! DIE DIE DIEEEEE! FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

...

Okay, I'm okay.

Dudes... winter is the ish. I love shoveling snow and taking my nephews out sledding. I especially love waking up every morning to a frozen car with no gloves (because I lose them every year), waiting for it to warm up, while drinking my morning coffee and smoking a cig. Then, heading off to work, only to deal with the awesome morning traffic, spilling my scolding hot coffee all over my crotchikal area on purpose because it's just THAT good, after being cut off by a very nice person who proceeds to make sweet love to his brake pedal.

Winter... it's the best season.

LoL, you didnt have to go that far to see changing Seasons
Tennessee has them. We even every now and again get a few feet of snow. the only thing I hate about TN is you still get the sticky humidity in the summer, but I guess that's the price you pay if you don't want 100,000 of acres to burn every year like CA.

But as use of tanning beds has increased among people under 30, doctors have seen a parallel rise in the numbers of young people with skin cancer. In Britain, melanoma, the deadliest kind of skin cancer, is now the leading cancer diagnosed in women in their 20s. Normally, skin cancer rates are highest in people over 75."
