but twitter is also mobile, it would be the quickest way to notify people not at there desktop

I have never used Twitter, the only good use I see for it though is like press conferences and like mobile updates from the local police or something.

Good god as if the forums arent bad enough, we really dont need anything like this and frankly its just a fad, the only reason I can fathom why its so popular with people is because some of there favorite actors are using it.
