when i try to play a dvd from my laptop with windows media player i get this error message

update your sound driver. that's how mine got fixed.

or, use winDVD instead of WMP

Also go to DIVX.com and DL their latest drivers and player but keep your WMP as default if you want, but DIVX will give you the needed plugins for a lot of things u want to play and if u can't open your "PORN" with WMP then the DIVX player will do it for you :P

Also, try using VLC

nah WMP wont play DVD if you have a tv output going (i have HDMI out to a LCD HD tv, for example all i had to do was change my resolution that fixed the problem

Aha, u didn't say that u were outputting to a TV initially. Changing the res makes sense as there's only certain aspect ratios and res that is compatible.
