Second stage of the SB2.1 update is scheduled to start Friday. This will result in my computer being unusable for a few days. It will probably take all day to update the cooling system then about 50 hours to update my raid array.

When it is all done I will have 2TB of additional space along with watercooling on the 480 and upgraded front intake fans. This update also will replace the quick disconnects with new ones that will result in better flow rates and reduced coolant loss when the system is transported.

oookkkaaay....

what does this have to do with the servers seeing as your hardly on them, hardly maintain them unless the servers go down or we get attacked.

Thats No excuse for neglecting the servers for six to eight months at a time jip.

Zero take a day out once a month to update the servers, remove the gore mod and add maps zero, you know LISTEN to your community and ACT ON IT, rather than blowing it off.

either that or get someone else to do it, james and hobo are reliabile.

and jip you should know better than to challenge me, you always lose.

WoW!! 50 hours for 2 tera bytes?? (plus what u already have) not really that much these days, (I have more than that - 4 TB - in my main system and am thinking on building a separate case accessible by all through my network instead of messing around with the primary boxes all the time) Wouldn't it just be easier to build a separate case for the HD’s with a cooling system built in and just use the main pc for the primary cpu integrating everything??? Might be a bit more luggage but WAY less work in maintenance in the long run man…

Just my two cents

PS~Hell, let's just build a case with 1024 Terabytes = 1 Petabyte OR better yet 1024 Petabytes = 1 Exabyte - Then I MIGHT be able to host enough space for Perry's porn DL :P

Delay switched to next weekend. This means next weekends work is now swapped with this weekends. Anyone who does not have admin or reserved slots activated right now will be getting it tomorrow when I work on the servers.

Also how can you call me out on not updating often when I have released a good number of map updates across the servers over the last month. In addition it is important to note that there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes. Remember that I do mod testing and development locally. In addition when valve does these update I got to resink my local copies with the remotes and that takes an entire day and and bandwidth for the file transfers. Lastly I have been tracking a reduction in server side lag on all of the servers over the last few weeks due largely to the valve updates. So as they continue to release updates expect performance to improve.

On another note yea I am back at school and so things are slower. It is not however due to work but me trying to actually live a little. Despite how sad this is I have not had any real friends at school for the last 2 years in that last year I had none after losing a good friend and the year prior that same friend was not a very good one and I basically would have been better off with none. So being that I actually have some real friends up here now I have been taking advantage of this and going out more and thus fewer updates. This might be the last year of my life that I actually have the ability to mess around as I doubt I will have any free time once I go into law school. But hey I heard lawyers make $1000/hour in NYC so if I start making that kind of money I could buy IBIS Gaming an island and we could have a counter strike theme park! ROFL

Seriously though I am working on the server stuff but I do need some breaks especially after going though all that BS most of the summer.

As for the time to add 2tb well what takes a long time is to rebuild 10tb worth of data across 12tb worth of drives. The math is very complex. It will take less than 50 hours probability as low as 16hours but I know that 50 hours is max. The good news is I got the fastest raid card for this size range as others have taken 40 hours to just build a 10tb array while it only took me 7 hours to do the same thing. Note that migration is a lot more complex than just building an array that is why it takes over twice as long. This is becuase it has to assemble all the data on the existing drives and then recreate it across all the drives at the same time. This is done for the entire space the existence of real data on the drive does not matter. You could have all the drives filled or empty and it will take the same amount of time to migrate. The complexity is in the math used to convert the data not in actually moving it.

On another note how is that really not that much now a days lol I am going to have the following drives in my system:
6x 2TB Deskstars
1x 1TB Deskstar
2x 150GB 15k Cheetahs
1x 60GB SSD
1x 250GB external

So 13,610GB is not a lot of HDD space these days?

OK I am back online for now but will be down this weekend for some time again. I will be activating new admins and reserved slot users on Wednesday or sooner. Sorry for delay I got tests backed up and only got this computer stabilized long enough for me to study.
