Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to click on this page!
There are many surveys and researches being carried out at the moment, very few of them are trying to understand gamers. But this is about to change!, the psychology community is trying to understand what motivate people to play a game and would very much appreciate your participation.
If you could please give us no more than 5 minutes of your time to complete this survey at www.lsbugame.com (http://www.lsbugame.com) you will greatly help the psychology and game community!
Thank you!
I gave permission before hand to make this thread. I hope u will all take it.

Maybe you should fill out one for both, but check first so we do not mess up the results.
I really look forward to seeing the final report that is generated from all of this data :wtg:

Well with the exception of toontown, I really dont play mmos as they either fall into the Wow clone trap or just suck, or the new management pissed me off (jagex, im still a mod there XD)
I might try Vindictus though I mean an MMO running on source, sounds interesting to me. hell the whole Nexon - valve relationship is interesting and odd.

I actually cant wait for SWOR that looks to be so interesting, however considering the MASSIVE ass budget, im worried that the monthly fee might be insane, anything over 11 bucks a month in my mind is way to damn much for an mmo

hey, in all honesty if you hate grinding to get shit done in MMo's and you like hving to actually be smart about how you build your "builds"
try GW out for a bit. next year GW2 is coming out, there promising it to be no grind and player based (you are only as good as you let your self bwe) kinda thing. also its open world, real time.. for example you blow up a tree.. no one else in the world see's that tree .. untill it "grows" back. blow up a bridge.. no one can use that bridge ect.
it will be AWESOME. give it a try xD

that sounds pretty cool. although i'm wondering how long it would take for the world to just be a smoking crator constantly.

i would assume things would be based in "game time". for example 1 hour in game = 5 min in real life. OR maybe they fix stuff via weekly updates ect.
im pretty stoked. there is a manifesto trailer so far at Guildwars2.com

I have stickied this thread to make sure it is seen for as long as it is still running.
I can't help but get the feeling he/she is trying to "put down" gaming due to the questions asked. It's what ever though, my free time is my... My free time.

agreed. the questions in here all seem 2 be related 2 addiction, and then it starts asking you personal questions that really in no way have anything 2 do with anything

They have everything to do with the study, obviously. He's a psychology... person (student? professor? doctor? I'm guessing student), and these are psychological profiling questions.
That said, I'm not sure the data provided will help so much with "what motivate people to play a game" as much as correlation between amount/type of gaming and personality type, or perhaps like you said, addiction. I don't really see what's wrong with that, though. Remember, number of hours played isn't necessarily indicative of addiction, which is where the psych profiling comes in.
That's just my take on what the data could be used for. Maybe he's got some genius psychological trick up his sleeve that turns it into something else.

if anything a questionnaire seemed more towards video games and violence to me. But something i would like to see is a Documentary about Gamers. Least an actuate one.
Something Like the Documentry- Hackers are people too.
Cause you know how media makes gamers look like we have no life and friends and stuff.
