Today we added 5,000 players to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta. Our selection criteria this round was simple – we chose a group of players who represented the full range of survey responses.

Why didn't they bring back the fucking riot shield?

They're adding weapons often, and fixing older ones as they go. They just recently added the Para and Tec-9 last weekend, but they still have some major fixes to get to. Recoil is ALMOST there on most weapons, but spray patterns still need adjusted.

Overall the game is looking to be going in the right direction, as they're focused on competitive play first, but still looking at the public side of the game as well.

I hope they keep to their word and don't release until the community voices their opinion on when it's ready for release, but this is a business after all. They'd rather you pay them to test their product and find bugs/exploits.

One major thing that some people have been crying about is the fact that in it's current stable version, bunny hopping has pretty much been murdered. I still believe once the server client is released, this can be changed between server configs and cvars.

EDIT: Riot shield is never used in competitive play so I doubt it will be in at final release.

Just as many had expected, Valve has officially announced that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will hit the shelves this summer, not the first quarter, according to Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5891732/valve-delays-counter+strike-go-to-summer).

Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment have been constantly releasing updates over the past few weeks based on the feedback from the increased beta. The delay shouldn't come as a surprise, as many Valve titles release on "Valve time". The company is notorious for delaying its initial release date so they can be sure the game is suited for the open market.

It should be expected that the BETA will continue to expand as many community sites, including ESEA, have been receiving more keys. Valve has also been giving out keys via the survey available on STEAM.

Delays are good! PROGRESS PEOPLE! PROGRESS!

EDIT: Also, it's official that the game will NOT be cross-platform. Big plus for the PC. It WILL still be out on consoles, though. They're trying to soak up as many of those console dollars as possible.

With that being the case it is possible the game will not be terrible, therefore someone please try to get me a beta key b/c depending on what I see in the beta will determine if we launch servers for it. If we do launch servers it will be on release day.
