Luckily, I have managed to recover the drive as checkdisk decided it would work. However, it is clear now the danger that my data is in. Currently I have 5.77TB of data on a 7.27TB array. Therefore in order to provide better protection there is 2 options:

    A) get 2x 4tb drives for $380 this would provide a backup but force me to separate out the files a lot with the drives individually formatted and the max .8% capacity before they are over loaded these drives can not even fit what I need. So basically $380 for a 1 time use copy of what I have now likely could recopy once a month. In the event the raid drive gets corrupt I can copy from these 2 drives and only lose 1 month and prey they do not die during the transfer lol.

    B) Build backup file server for $1331, this would permanently solve the problem by having a second redundant system main costs are $536 for 4x 3tb hdds (run raid 5) and then $470 for a raid card. The rest is for the case/ram/motherboard/cpu. I would then run linux on it and some sort of redundant file system that is better than ntsf.

So here is the deal, logically paypal will take money if you donate directly so I will accept any payment type for those that want to donate. I will update with posts in here how much I have collected so far. My goal is to get close to $1000 so I can do option B. PM me if you want to donate and we can work out the best way for you to send money.

Regardless I will take what I can get and combine it with what I can scrap together and figure out something. Luckily I think if I am careful my main system should not have any more hard crashes that corrupt the drive but there is no way to know when windows will decide to blow up my array lol.

For those of you that wonder how one has problems like this here is a list of problem in the past this single system has had (why not for the lolz)
    • motherboard fried due to sabotage of the cooling system
    • new tube to replace sabotage tube
    • new motherboard DOA could not get rma
    • new new motherboard DOA gave up on that board
    • 120mm fan failed (replaced)
    • 3 sticks of RAM failed (RMA win)
    • leds on cpu ht failed (never fixed)
    • gpu failed (ie crashed a lot) (replaced with new one)
    • pump power wire cut (repaired but untested)
    • SSD containing the OS failed (replaced with new SSD)
    • 2tb drive DOA (RMA win)
    • 120mm fan failed (never fixed)
    • 2tb drive died after 30 hours (RMA fail)
    • raid 0 array crashed when 15k sas drive broke (replaced array with 1 ssd)
    • 2x 120mm fan failed (never fixed)
    • pump caught fire (luckily the rest of the computer did not)
    • male QD failed (needs RMA)
    • female QD failed (needs RMA)
    • flow sensor failed (needs repair attempt/rma)

So there you have it, when you do a lot on your computer you also have a lot done to you (in the forum of shit exploding).

On a related note GG DM FFA will be on schedule for testing sometime Monday unless something breaks again in the next 24 hours.

That is nuts. At what point do you just decide that case is bad luck and start from new?

Some bad jew jew you have going on there...

Oh do you want me to get into the list of systems before it!? rofl. I think you can find history of delays in here going back years from my computers blowing up lol.

I remember when the money was raised to build said system. Good times. * Tear rolls down face.* Option B definitely.
Make all your last demands for I will forsake you and I'll meet your eyes for the very first time, for the very last.

This same system is over 4 years old. Most people would have had 2-3 computers during this time. Rather than spent $2000 every two years I find it better to just invest in a $4000 system that lasts at least 6 years. Honestly this cpu should still hold good for me at least another 3 years so that is good. The parts that get invested in over time can be moved over to a new system. Ironically most of the cost in this computer is now in the storage system.

Well apparently ReFS does not support raid 6 so it might as well not exist

I mean really MS with all your $$ how can you not create a decent file system that also works with raid this is 2013 not 1993...
