When it comes to ping times, I have had AT&T and comcast at the same house at the exact same time and comcast pings 50% lower to our servers.

For whatever reason when I had Verizon ADSL, I could not play CSS while my roomate watched Netflix. After I got comcast, dual use did not matter a bit.
