    Hmmm?
I go skeet shooting, at least once a month, shotguns are easy to reload if you know how to. Also, when you're reloading any other weapon and a zombie is in you're face, it's practically impossible to line up, wwith a shut gun, you shove the barrel in his mouth use you're body weight to load one more shell, cock, and pull the trigger.

I meant difficulty as in comparison to a magazine. And it is much easier to load a single magazine than 8 rounds. This is forgetting about how you can be mobile and hold a sufficient amount of shotgun ammunition.

And the act of shoving the barrel in the face of a zombie is easy in a controlled environment, but we are talking about panic situation. Especially when there is the possibility of more than one zombie bearing down on you.

so what you are saying is that you have first hand experience killing zombies?

The difference between skeet shooting and zombie fleeing is that when you skeet shoot.. nothing is trying to kill you.
it wouldnt be about the power of the weapon, it would be more about its efficiency. That is why having a side arm and a 8lb assault rifle would be ideal. If you can aim like you say you can, under pressure with a chance of losing your life, why the fuck would you want a shotgun? All a shotgun is doing is putting you closer to the target, which in this scenario would be stupid.. why put your self in any more danger then you need to be.

i've always said, the best gun for anti-zombie situations would be an old m1 or a m14 EBR. something semiautomatic to conserver ammo, fireing large, slow bullets. hi velocity rouns may travel farther, but you're not going to be sniping for fucks sake, only clearing your path as you go. the high velocity rounds would impart less impact force/energy to the zombies head, increasing chance for a through-an-through.

what your goal there would be, is to have a rifle powerful enough to penetrate the skull but not leave an exit wound. this results in the round ricocheting around the interior.

But tbh... if the zombie apocalypse where to happen tmrw, i would not be prepared, the FIRST thing i would focus on is food, tools, and high shelter with a sufficient amount of natural material. i.e. boondocks/mountians. Im not going to be focused on some silly kill count. With that said i completely understand why that article suggest the shotgun as the least appealing weapon to use during a situation like that. Your goal is to keep your distance and survive, not hunt and put your self at risk.

alot of people have a hard time understanding situational awareness

tbh, for mid-range engagements, a simple .22 rifle would rock. i had forgotten about non-exiting shots. i was imagining head-removal type shots, but a .22 at 100 yards would penetrate and not exit. they're easy to use, clean, fix, carry. simple mods turn a bolt-action single-shot into a bolt-action mag-fed, and if you can adjust the sights right, they got great accuracy.
