Personal reform
about the only thing you can do these days far as govenment its vote for the new person in politics and hope he has a few years before he gets corrupted....... We the people have the right to overthrow our government but theys days if you do your considered a Tyrant..... So its always a lose lose situation.
Well basically what we have with the "overthrow" every 4 years is a system of out of the frying pan, into the fire. Out of the fire, onto the stove. Off of the stove, into the oven. Out of the oven, onto the floor (which as we learned as kids is lava). Off of the floor, to the center of the earth where we burn, then end up in China as communists. Really the 2 party system is a joke, which is why I don't vote for politicians. I'll vote on specific issues one way or the other, but if I vote for a politician, I'm not voting for what he stands for, rather what the party stands for, and since I don't agree totally with either party I'll be voting for things that I want no part in. If I could go back in time and somehow stop parties from developing, all you present-folk would be chillin in flying cars and shit.
Voting on the issues would be voting on the lines as that is how they draw them...
It is that very methodology that has gotten us in so much trouble. People are voting on issues and not on principles. Sure there are always issues but they only bring out the select few for you to choose between and the choices themselves are a joke. Like would you rather go bankrupt today or in 10 years. Well I would rather not go bankrupt at all.
Our leaders get to make many decisions outside of the little box of issues we have on the election day. This is why voting on principles is what is important. Then I have an idea as to how this person is going to respond under conditions or toward issues that are not on the table now.
If we got people to look at the candidates individually and assess their values and principles we would have much better people leading out country. Until we start to look at people and not issues we will be caught in this trap forever.
(ok this thread is starting to get off topic now)
"We are willing enough to praise freedom when she is safely tucked away in the past and cannot be a nuisance. In the present, amidst dangers whose outcome we cannot foresee, we get nervous about her, and admit censorship." - E.M. Forster
Censorship arises from fear, which is freakin everywhere. Fear of losing jobs (as will happen if an elected official steps out of party lines), fear of the consequences of our decisions, fear of being politically incorrect, fear of the unknown etc. It's impossible to get this point across to an entire country, but we were founded not on fear but on courage. When we get that courage back, when we find our testes, we'll be back on the right track and the issue of censorship as well as many others won't be such a worry.
