Thread: Battlefield 3

I would love an explanation for this.

Start multilayer, Join 32 man server.

Forever load, first 20 seconds of game-play is smooth as silk, goes downhill from there.

Massive stuttering, what to me seems like connection lag simply because it cannot be FPS drop. (Unless my FPS is going from 30-40 to literally 1-5 fps). All happening for like 20 seconds, only to return to semi-smooth game-play again.

Playing on High settings, what the game recommends, Played the SP campaign all the way through with a few bumps along the way, most settings on Ultra. (Turing V-sync on and off to see what it was like, some places it worked well and others it bogged my comp down.)

I can play the SP totally fine on High-Ultra settings, but once I even touch the multilayer It just fucking rapes my computer into submission. I don't know what it is, I've never had a video lag like this in my life, and very very few games can't be run on the highest specs on my rig. (not boasting, just haven't had many problems in the past.) (Even Crysis 2 ran great on Ultra settings... and I stole it off the internet!... a week before release!).

Idk, no clue what's going on, the BETA ran better than this does now and it was with as many people and higher specs.

Not looking forward to changing to 64bit, don't want to reinstall everything over again -_- but I'll have my precious 4 extra gigs of RAM, and I'm assuming 64bit itself runs a lot faster.

    Ugh.

im thinking res could be memory leaks but more likely ill prepared ea and dice on multiplayer support, multi is still a lot of fun tho

Res what are your specs because I find it hard to believe you were running BF3 on High with only 4 gigs of RAM.

    4 extra gigs of RAM

i get the same thing, but only after playing MP for awhile will that start to happen. but once i switch to campaign its gone. so i'm guessing its server side or DICE or something.

    Desktop PC Specs

    OS: Win7 Home 32bit
    Pro: Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20 Ghz
Installed RAM: 8 GB, (3.24 usable because of 32bit Win 7 OS) :C
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5850 < This is a wonderful card for the price >
Total Available Graphical Mem: 2427 MB

My baby may need a few upgrades but she's a beast when it comes to a majority of games. (He age is starting to show a bit)

I can run BF3 SP campaign with Textures and Shadows on Ultra with smooth game play.

Also, I think Curdy may be right, I think larger servers are causing me?others? to have memory leaks, causing the horrible stuttering. Time shall tell.

err... You do not have 3.24 gigs of ram available. Vram gets added into total system ram.
Did you have a single good reason to go 32bit?
Anyways, what you could do is hack one stick to act as your Virtual disk.
