Wow, alright, let's break this down real quick.

Consumer X has $100 to spend each month on cable. He sees that company A offers cable for $30 a month for a year, company B offers it for $40 a month for a year and company C, his current provider, is charging him his full allotted amount, $100 per month.

He calls his current provider to tell him he is being overcharged, as his provider's competitors offer him a much better price to switch. His company tells him 'the price is the price, we will not lower it.'

By your line of reasoning, and Assassin's by extension, the consumer should suck it up, stop complaining and continue overpaying by $60-70 a month because his company says that's the price.

Do I even need to explain to either of you why that's some of the stupidest logic and reasoning I've ever heard of in my life? You keep getting fucked by greedy MNCs and don't 'rock the economic boat' if you want to. I'll continue to maximize how far my money goes and get the best value per dollar that I can. The price is never the price. The market drives the price. And in this case, the market drove the price of my Internet/television bill down 30% because, quite frankly, the price was too fucking high. Calling me the douchebag and the poor, multibillion dollar company the victim in this situation is flat out absurd.

Get yours. No one's going to give it to you.

Thas what it is son! Defending a company's rates, when they control the market (without competition) in your area is one thing, but defending them when their rates are astronomically different compared to another company in the same competing field is sheepish. Acolyte you sounded like an Apple consumer in your latest post.

The same applies for cell phone contracts. Threaten to go to a different provider and they suck your dick to keep you as a customer.

THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT FAGGOTS!

Please customer, keep making money off of them.
Disappoint customer because the bigwigs want to buy another yacht, then you lose them completely.

Used to think that but then: http://torrentfreak.com/verizons-six...veiled-130111/

However, I think all the major providers are doing this so basically no one gets internet anywyas.

Ack. Luckily I'm an IT guy, so my ISP finding out what I'm torrenting is pretty unlikely. Still, this is a terrible, terrible policy for our network overlords to adopt.

what i'm saying is that you, as a consumer, shouldn't feel entitled to special treatment. if you find a better place, by all means switch. i encourage it. but to call and get pissy when the person on the other end can't give you a lower price is fucking retarded.

Actually the way it works is if your IP gets accused of torrenting. No actual evidence is needed. Also ips are submitted by a 3rd party. So for example you can spoof some ips on bittorrent, have them detected and have those peoples internet shutoff.

OR more likely they will just claim anyone that transfers a lot of data is accused and use that to shut you down. You need to prove your innocence by paying them money for them to then review their own charge and determine for themselves if their claim against you is valid.

This. In so many ways this. You knew what the fuck you were signing up for you and you bitched out. If you can't fucking afford something that isn't a necessity then fucking don't get it. Grow the fuck up.

With regard to that I can say that at least the people that I know that do this actually do switch if they can not get a deal. They will keep using a service as long as they keep giving them deals, as soon as the provider refuses to give the same price they really will switch to someone who will.
