Did you modify it and push it beyond its limits or did something like the oil or cooling system fail?
nope all stock. boost was 15psi. it had a small oil leak but i ran it hard. i beat the crap out of it.
gotta question about turbo engines and fuel..
will i have any really bad negative effects on my engine if i use eighty nine octane fuel instead of premium? ive been using that for the past two weeks..
If you hit high boost with low octane it can cause your engine to ping or knock. It could destroy it. You probably already had some knocking which your knock sensor detected. If so then your engine computer has already retarded your timing, which causes you to lose power.

89's not all that low, is it?
we just learned octane numbers in intro-o-chem about 2 weeks ago. it's a ratio of how well it burns compared to a mixture of n-octane(O.N. 100) and hexane(O.N 0). whatever percentage of n-octane in hexane equals the burnability of the gas is the octane number.
do you know how much interior weighs? when mine was pulled out my car lost 400lbs. put in lighter seats, steering wheel, shifter (yes we go that far) and you can feel the difference.
i suggest keeping it at premium. 91 octane. or 93 depending on where you live.
to acolyte put it this way feller,
If i put anything less the 91 octane in my car, it will seize and explode.
no mine is just tuned that way. for the best performace i need this.
and besides, 87 is junk gas anyway.
