For 12 years StarCraft fans have dreamed of a day when they could play StarCraft not just as a RTS but also an RPG. Today this dream is finally becoming a reality with the announcement of StarCraft Universe Chronicles of Fate, a free mod for StarCraft II Wings of Liberty.
Originally named World of Starcraft, StarCraft Universe focus on recreating multiplayer raid battle experiences also found in games such as World of Warcraft. Starcraft Universe will be released in a series of Starcraft 2 custom maps and published officially on Battle.net. Users will be able to play against a wide variety of monsters, bosses and character classes. Playable units will include the Marine, Firebat, Ghost, Medic, Dark Templar, High Templar, Preserver, Zealot and others not yet announced. The custom maps released for the mod on Battle.net will allow players to create, save and load existing characters. All this combined with support for up to 5 players per game along with customizable weapons is going to make this one of the most amazing game mods of all time.
