ZMOD Escape maps: EDGERS - SOLUTION

Hey Everyone,

:twocents: I know this is a big issues for a lot of the players on our server and a major contributing factor for not being able to get past round 1 of most ZE maps. Now usually a solution would focus on the root of the issue, but we can't cure stupidity, so I have another idea. would it be possible to have a plugin that spawns the tagged player a certain distance behind the tagging player for ZE maps only. I played on Plague Fest the other day and that was something I noticed on their server. now their server lacks a certain je ne sais quoi to keep me there, but I did like that aspect of it. just a thought, let me know what you think and if it is possible. :twocents:

I agree, we do need something along those lines. A plugin for edgers would be great for ZE maps, i.e. Shroom Forest. We can fix stupidity but we can fix noobs edging. If I knew how to code, I would've done so already.

Well, tony the tiger from PF has one that is already made but I think it's specific only to PF since like almost all the plugins are done by him.

It would be nice to have this to counter the try hard deformed parade. (You know who you are)

Seriously though, while I like the idea, is it that big of a problem on the "difficult" multi-level ze maps? I've noticed poor defending (not including edging) and imbalance between those defending and those attacking (mini)boss, at least on harry potter, to be a larger issue. Personally I hate being tagged if I'm a human and humans have a chance of winning. If I'm tagged when the whole defense is collapsing, that's a different story as it's already over. If it's not terribly difficult to implement then it could be worth a shot.

Things are easy enough for humans already with the recent changes. Adding extra handicaps isn't going to help players get better.

What we need is a defense team, an item team, and a trigger guy. 99% of the time It's only like a couple people who know what to do. We miss items, no one triggers, no one defends, team wipes, and maps get rtv'd because of baddies who cry for atix.

The only thing though is day crew is autistic as fffffuuuucccckkkk. Like really really really bad. Some people you just can't help. If the day crew is on harry and so is PF, i'll switch without a second thought. If we are on mako and so is GFL, i'll switch without a second thought.

Realistically we can't make people at IBIS good at ZE, we just can't. Let's just make a good team together and do events and do the good escape maps with the nightcrew. I have a wedding I have to go to this weekend but lets try to do one next weekend.

Better item management would go a long way towards improving the situation. There are usually enough good people on to ensure that every item has someone who can use it competently. It's just that retards pick up stuff instead and admins aren't aggressive enough in using !etransfer (or !eban if necessary). Just earlier today on HP the same dumbass must have picked up and wasted Avada in the same exact spot like 3 times (before moving on to Freeze which he also fucked up with multiple rounds). GFL would have restricted the guy probably after the first time he wasted Avada. I don't know how PF does things but I'm guessing they'd do the same thing. Or you have crazyasian the other day, who was restricted, who knew he was restricted and who kept trying to pick up staffs anyway (knowing that it would make them disappear) in order to force the admins on to remove his EntWatch restriction. I don't know why he wasn't banned on the spot.

I know nobody wants to sit in spec monitoring this stuff instead of playing but I'm sure it would be less tedious than replaying the same level 10 times in a row.

Not true at all. Watching the fails is often far more entertaining than experiencing them. As much as I do love that Harry Potter map, I can't do more than about 3-4 rounds in a row before I have to sit in spec because I can't deal with everyone's stupidity (even my own).

Often times I think the reason we replay the round 10 times in a row is that I am in spec. Maybe I'm just an egotistical asshole though. :smirk:

To make this relevant. Im 100% positive that more than half of the people who "edge" are trolling you. Why? Ill tell you.... because it works! All you here on ZE maps is pissing and moaning about people being to close to this edge or that edge or the edge on the other side of the map they have not even got to yet.

Second most of CSS is Zombie Escape now and if we don't find a solution to how we can fix the problems that are denying the zombie server In escape then the servers gone. Actually, believe it or not, alot of professionals who make double the digits in salary, have specific signatures that express the fact that spelling errors may be present due to the email or text document being typed on a phone.

It's a decent idea though I think having it work like the knockback increase after losing set # of rounds would be the best way to implement it. If you take away the dangers of edgers you decrease the difficulty. In my experiences edgers are relatively easy to deal with. Once you have the name of the person just focus your aim on them whenever the opportunity to get tagged presents itself. As soon as they are stabbed just shoot them away or alternate fire and kill them. Edgers I believe teach a lesson of both teamwork and safe positioning.

exactly, item usage contributes to helping the sever win more ze maps which is the focus now and losing just causes less traffic as Anex said if gfl or Pf are playing the same map we would rather play there because it's more fun to win, but ibis is our community and we want to to see it at top 10 again which is the main reason for this thread. Mature up kid.
