  1. Default somewhat racist (STEAM_0:1:4489234) 12-20-2013

    Name in Game: somewhat racist
    Steam-ID: STEAM_0:1:4489234
Who banned you: brett friggin favre (according to the Sourcebans page, but that wasn't the name of the admin in the server, who I didn't recognize)
    When: 12-20-13 20:52
    Where: ZM
Why banned: "rejoining to avoid zombies"

Honestly, I've never seen anyone banned for this reason (and it happens often enough on the server, even when admins are on; it just isn't treated as a big deal. If someone reconnected to avoid me tagging them, I wouldn't even think to say anything). I knew that using the !ztele command to get away from zombies (which is not what I did) is against the rules, but rejoining? I mean, you're dead the rest of the round, so what's the difference between doing that and jumping into a pit and dying, etc.? I even asked the admin who banned me what I did wrong (at first, I thought he mistakenly assumed I ztele-d away from zombies; I did ztele, but there were no zombies anywhere near me at all), but apparently he thought I was playing dumb or something. I truly, honestly did not know that rejoining the server before getting tagged is against the rules, and for that I apologize (I've only been playing regularly on the server for about a month and a half). A one-week ban for this seems pretty severe. Can I please get it reduced by a few days with a stern warning not to repeat what I did? I promise I won't reconnect to avoid being tagged in the future. I've learned my lesson.

You're an idiot, serve your time, don't do it again.

I thought I have asked you to read the rules during your last ban duration.
It's the second rule of zombie server, "do not disconnect and rejoin to avoid zombie tag"
Attempting to flee from a zombie.
Disconnecting then rejoining to avoid getting tagged
Using the "Change teams" command to avoid getting tagged
Joining spectator to avoid getting tagged
Doesn't get much clearer than that. Read the rules.

you've manipulated the system in plenty of ways. at this point with all the ztele-ing and rejoining, it's essentially rank manipulation when you look at the sequence of events as a whole. then there are the 2 events of directed racism from zm_roy_the_ship earlier.

3 day and 2 day bans previously weren't long enough for you to read the rules i guess, so a week should give you long enough.

One chants out between two worlds:
    Fire, walk with me.

phil sum'd it up. here's more details:

you see, it's not about YOU S.R, it's never about YOU. (more on that later)
The reason why you get punished is not strictly for the ACT of rejoining, and missing a round. And because of that, skipping a round by rejoining is not punishment enough. In fact, if you seriously think that rejoining is not that big of a deal, why bother to rejoin in the first place if you're gonna end up sitting in spec nway instead of being a zombie?

    REASON:
    STATS. STATS. STATS.

    When you rejoin, you:
1- disallow zombies of tagging you, denying THEM exp from tagging you.
2- disallow humans the chance to kill you, after you got turned to zombie, denying THEM exp from killing you.
3- cause grievance to the zombie who did all the work to tag you only to have you rejoin, again denying THEM the satisfaction of tagging you.
4- are showing bad sportsmanship on your part, because you are going against the general consensus of the play, denying THEM the fun and decent sportsmanship.
5- are affecting game stats, and therefore breaking the "do not manipulate stats" rule, which is a rule to allow hard-workers to get recognized for their gameplay, thus you are denying THEM the recognition for their effort.

so to summarize, you are breaking the rules by rejoining to avoid being tagged. In fact, there's no need to actually state to you WHY you were wrong, except to mention the rule that phil posted. We don't need to elaborate on it.

If it's a rule, you follow it, no questions asked. I'm just being nice enough to give SOME reasons why your actions can be attributed as grounds for punishment, and the reason is clear:
it's not about YOU, it's about the community, about THEM, and you will follow the community rules no questions asked or suffer the consequences, which is what a senior member of this community, an upper level admin, has kindly administered to you

serve the time, learn from it, don't do it again.

ps: 1 week is more than fair, since you were already administered a 2 day ban beforehand for the same damn reason... Next time it will be 2 weeks, then a month, then 3 , then 6, then 12, then perma...
or maynard could pop in at any of those occasions and administer a perma if he feels like you're a lost cause... like i said, learn from your "mistake" and don't do it again.
this way we make damn sure you remember the rule.
Started from bottom. Now we here. <IBIS>

Looks like what needed to be said by reasoning, was said by cyber.
Just read the rules my dude. You seem like a decent guy to play with, but abide by IBIS rules.
Obviously a 3 day ban and a 2 day ban didn't get your attention to read the rules, maybe this 1 week ban will hit you to read and learn the rules.

    Unban request denied. Closed.
