Thread: WinRawr is available for free now!

  1. Post WinRawr is available for free now!

Warning: Green text is there mostly for fun, and should not be taken serious.
Have you always wanted to put your garbage inside of something, but were you unable to find the right one, too shy, too unexperienced, or simply too broke?
Don't worry, I've found a solution. I bring to you: WinRawr. WinRawr is a lovely application. She doesn't mind if you put your shit in her. You don't have to be experienced: WinRawr will help you to put your stuff in in a way that will please both WinRawr and you.
You don't need any money: WinRawr is completely free, and pretty much always available! WinRawr's competition will frequently ask for money, and might thus interrupt you while you're having a good time putting in your garbage.
And last but not least: all information about WinRawr, from her birth to her current stage is publicly available (Open Source). If you want to know more about WinRawr, or want to see a little sneak peak (Sorry, I didn't really prepare it that well), click the download link below.

To open the program, simply execute /bin/winrawr.exe.
To recompile the program, download GCC (Available for MinGW installer) and execute "Precompile.bat" (Not necessary) and "Compile & Execute.bat" (Necessary)

    FAQ
    Why?
I have to compress and decompress .xlsx files for a project I'm working on. I looked at the .zip file format, and it wasn't that hard. I've been working with C++ for a while, so I though: Why not create a opensource version of WinRAR? Note that at the moment WinRawr cant acturely compress/decompress .zip files.
    Why?
I got the idea, but I still needed a name (I mean, I can't just call all my programs "program.exe" can I?). Of course, I'm very creative, so I wrote down the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of a cheap, lame WinRAR clone.
    Why?
"Application" is a feminine word (Translate "application" to German, French or Spanish, you'll see). You download archivers so you can put stuff (And come on, most of the files you have are just pure shit) in them easly and without much effort.
    Why?
Because I don't have a life. I also want to insult people without them being able to do something about it, because I'm mean. I also want to share my stupid humor with the world so everyone can hate me.
    Why?
Because I want to infect your computer. Please open winrawr.exe in your C:\Windows folder so I can hack your whole system (No wonder I didn't finish it yet, its obvious: Its just a disguise to make you open the program. The above story is just to encourage you to open the file).
    Why?
Because I could really use your IP adress to DDOS ibis.
(My program wont read your IP, and neither will it infect your computer. Just be warned, the program isn't finished, so if your computer does somehow crash, its not my fault)
    Why?
Oh, come on, you're seriously not convinced? You do realise most of the stuff I post on this forum is complete nonsense, right?

    Time for discussion!
This is a discussion, so tell me what you think about WinRawr compared to WinRAR so far. Do you think WinRAR should've been free, or do you think WinRawr is completely useless (Okay, it is completely useless right now, but if I feel like it I might acturely add a compression thing). Do you maybe use Windows Explorer, or are you using apple or linux (I'm sorry if the program doesn't work for linux and apple ) And least important of all: Do you want me to continue this... thing, or do you want me to delete it forever?

I'm not sure this is something a few people will take too lightly.. Especially the DDoS part.

About Security (I am not planning a DDoS anytime soon)
What I'm trying to make clear is that even a program that looks secure might still do harm to your computer one way or another (One version had a memory leak, so I had to restart my computer to avoid windows from corrupting my files). It's ment to be a warning; I can't asure you that 1) you'll receive whatever I intended to send/tested, and mostly 2) The program does for you what it does for me. I have read multiple stories of big companies getting infected because someone used a untrusted compiler. If you take a look at the code you will notice I can acturely get your IP, but because I didn't get my licence yet, I better warn about the possible risks. This isn't a product like WinRAR, but a uncomplete sample you can check out if you want. If my purposes was to obtain your IP for a DDoS attack, I at least warned I could do something like that. Same goes for infecting your computer: If you place the program in your Windows folder, I can't be responsible for any damage to your system. I could of course just get a copy of the CC Licence, but because this is just a sample, I better have some fun making my own 'license'.
    About the Discussion (Thread)
If this was a finished product, I wouldn't even post it here. But I posted it here to create a discusion, and to be honest the goal wasn't to discuss the security, but the use: Is anyone else interested in a free open source archiver? As you might already have read, everything I write is written there for a reason, however useless it might seem. If I were to acturely post a formal version, it would probably take me about 2-3 hours longer. Because I do this mostly for fun, I better make the best of it.
If anyone cares, everything before the download link and after the second "Why?" is pretty much total BS, besides from the fact that I do want to warn you about the security risk, without the effort of creating a license. (I'll color code the BS). At this stage, the only thing that matters to me is that I gotta have fun. When the program is done/useful in some way, I'll update the post to a more formal version.

P.S. Not sure if this will ever even work anyway... I have to download and manualy (!!!) install 30+ gcc C++ headers, or I have to buy Visual Studio for $420-$3625 or something. :|

I mean you could of course just steal a free version but otherwise you technicaly have to pay for it, even though its a 999999999 year trail. (I hate those messages that keep popping up :P)

Thank you cyber. We both can neither read or write. Its quite sad. I thought he said "WinRar" instead of "Wine at right", and there's aparently some kind of liquor shop named "right" near Irishrush's house, I guess?
