Stuck at "Scanning for steam games updates" ?

Hey, every time i try to launch a game, i get stuck on a popup from steam that tells me it;s "scanning for steam games updates"....
and it just sits there... ive been waiting for 2 hours to go into the game bcos i need to vote on them hacker demos... but it wont launch?


i googled it, tried a few things, no luck.
anyone had that issue and fixed after the major update?

edit: after 17 fucking restarts... i think it worked.

I had the same issue. Fixed the first time I restarted my computer and steam.
