It is not being caught, there are plenty of legal things that people download now and that is the real reason they are doing this. In the future people will dl a lot of movies and tv shows and I do not think on demand likes that idea too much as those businesses compete with them. So they will make users pay extra for the bandwidth to do it so they create a market advantage. People think oh it will not affect me b/c as usually Americans think of the present and not the long term problem created from things we simply agree to. If you want the future to be a world where America has limited access to the internet while other nations have access to unlimited data at fast rates than yes you should quietly agree with comcast. But if you care about the future of our now digital civilization that we should defend the rights for unlimited access to the backbone. Remember the internet will only become more important in the next 100 years. Even poor people will need computers and internets and such. Think of what the true long term future is and think how what we are doing today can destroy the benefits of that technology for many people. The rich will never really be affected by this but in the future almost every American will need big connections and a lot of allowance. Why should less wealthy people be cut off from data just because 1 company is the only one that sells the service.

    Read this.

Could last to the end of this year. What do you think?

I doubt there will be unrestricted internet access in America or other places for that matter for a very long time. Company's are just to greedy along with the governments. Would be nice, but I doubt it isn't gonna happen for a very, very, very long time over here.

With todays free access to quality HDTV over the net that bandwidth could be blown threw rather fast. Sometime I stream a few Netflix movies a day (that can blow threw quite a bit of bandwidth), they just want to blow out all the competition. I'm sure they would rather have me watch shitty VoD than Netflix movies. They need to invest their money into expanding their network instead of spending millions on "crapping" everyones connections. FFS, roll out the Docsis 3 everywere and decrease network limitations. Greedy @ss F*cks.

    Also this....

Who's not to say that one trigger could set right after the other depending on the amount of data and speed your downloading it at leading to a 100% cap for the download. This is getting quite rediculous.

No doubt this will effect everyone. I think it rather unfair.

Yeah. Comcast stops throttling p2p, now they will throttle everyone. And put a limit on. I don't get why are they so desperate to lose customers.

They dont have to stop until the end of the yer when their other network managing techiniques are in place. Only provide documentation of what there doing to the FCC and the Public in 30 days. I hope theses experiments don't last long. As for whats happend to competition... well when the cable company gets so many handouts from state and federal funds they monopolize areas and make it very very hard for a customer to choose ISP's. Something has gotta give in the future. In my area its 1.5mb DSL or Comcast. Even with metered and capped plans it still "monopolizes" me into one ISP. When they lose customer base then they might change things. Wont know till it all happens. =\

Also w/ Fios unmetered lines I doubt it will be long before they play catch up and partake in all this throttling/cap activity. Knowing Verizon I don't doubt it at all.

I did, and I have always been of the opinion that if you add to a thread, not spam it resurrection a thread is fine, I did mention I see the date.
There is not a good reason to make a new thread out of it either you know.
