    So does Potato get to keep the 2000 skill he gained when he wasn't even playing or because of the ranking glitch? If so can I have 2000 skill for free? =D

    The skill changes reflect the numbers when reprocessed after removing the old players from the stats. If a given player had a large amount of kills on players who were not removed there score is logically going to skyrocket. Currently the numbers and positions "appear" to match up correctly overall.
