Out of curiosity, why do you run these guys on a windows box anywho? I'm not intimately familiar with SRCDS, but isn't linux generally the best choice, if you have a choice?

It's a mix bag actually. Linux servers tend to be more stable, but arent the easiest to manage. Windows servers (running at least Windows Server 2008 RC2) are stable enough for gaming compared to older versions and is pretty user friendly.

I'm a linux SA, so my views are a bit skewed towards that side of things. Not knowing the history of SRCDS (source dedicated server), I wasn't sure if it'd run better on linux or windows. 2k8 is pretty decent, it's awesome that you can finally do crap in stock IIS7 that you've been able to do in apache for years (mod_rewrite style thingies).

actually win server 2008 is almost as bad as linux for srcds, major performance losses. srcds historically has ran best on win server 03.
