I use Win 7 Home because there's absolutely nothing wrong with it and I don't have any need for any of the features of Pro or Ultimate, so there was no point in paying more. It's only a problem now because if I were to upgrade to Win 10 for free, it'd be Home, and thus complete shit, because fuck Win 7 Home users apparently.

I'm hoping they change a lot of things on Win 10 Home. I intend to get the free upgrade before the one-year window is up. It'd be nice if I could actually use it at that point.

I do remember seeing something about a discounted upgrade option from Home to Pro for Win 10, but there were no details (pricing is important). That's a possible option.

I'm not saying I'm installing Windows 10, because I've never installed a new OS on release. And there are other issues with Windows 10 (mandatory unscheduled updates, lack of any reason whatsoever to upgrade over Windows 7, etc.). This just isn't one of those issues.
Well news around the web would appear to disagree on that:

You could also follow these steps and hope for the best: https://fix10.isleaked.com/

Also note that this would not help you use websites or services that have banned windows 10 users.

Dead serious, all those news outlets failed to research before they posted, they used each other as sources instead of lookint at what they were talking about. Many of them have gone and put out new articles about how their previous (the ones you linked) are wrong, but they dont have a system to redact old articles. Windows 10 would get sued so hard if they actually had that clause in the EULA of windows 10. You can use windows 10 without useing windows services like the xbox client or the windows store, which I had no plans of using anyways. I have also had the pleasure of using edu edition that does not let anyone ping it (at least with the settings my school set up). Any computer outside of the school network can not see my laptop.

Stars is correct, however the real EULA and privacy statement isn't any better.

Yes, that many idiotic "journalists" failed to do the most basic of research, like actually reading the policy that they were quoting. Coming from someone trained in research and analysis, do not trust anything that the media says. They will state questionable information from the shakiest of sources as absolute fact without any vetting or verification. If you want factual truth, find it yourself.

I went ahead and read through the Windows 10 EULA Passarelli posted, I'm not sure what makes it bad? Other than the automatic updates without notification clause, I didn't see anything unexpected or non-standard (i.e. unique to Windows 10).

The privacy statement applies to essentially all MS products, so I don't think that's relevant to the specific Windows 10 conversation, even if there may be valid concerns about it (I don't know, honestly).
